This brought back so many memories, I haven't played it for a while!
NIce addition is the Hallway scene with the ninja. Actually, anything involving the ninja kicks major ****! But the hallway scene is the best by far (before you fight him, in the PSX version all yo did was hear some noise and then open up the door to find a bunch of daed bodies, now you get to see how those bodies came to be!)
Ok, yeah this game kicks ****, it kicks so much **** that I didn't go out drinking tonight just to play it, actaully I spent money that was inteded for beer on it....
Oh, and when Psycho Mantis tells you to put your controller on the floor and then Snake looks at you, pure gold!
It means you can shoot in first person mode, I don't know if you can move around like the MGS2 VR missions, but I beleive in the PSX MGS you could look in first person mode, but not shoot in it.

2. While you communicator thing is handy, they wont tell me how to snap necks! Please enlighten this noob on how the combat controls work.

This game rocks hard! <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> I don't have MGS:TS (or even a Gamecube for that matter) however I can tell you this.
1. MGS is hard until you get rather handy with the controls and little tricks.
2. To snap a neck, sneak up behind a guy and press the button (Gamecube equivalent of PS2 Square) and Snake will grab the guard and hold him, keep tapping square, you will hear grunting, and after a few presses Snake will snap his neck.
3. Solid Snake is cool, I was more of a Liquid fan myself (probably due to his REALLY USELESS SPOILER English accent)
4. Reload your Socom quickly is easy, have it equipped and then press the button twice you use to quickly equip and unequip, it takes mere nano seconds and the none of the guards can shoot you in this time and after it is done you will have a full magazine. This also works for all other guns.
(in the PSone version) You have to hold the crouch/duck button to be able to run and shoot with a SOCOM or FA-MAS...and it can be hard to do at first. It's not an overly useful skill, but you might find it useful later on (especially since there's a first person view now...and there's probably more button available on the gamecube.
Also, once you beat the game (that means spoiler, folks), and get the bandana that gives you infinite ammo: you can shoot off most of the rounds in your FA-MAS (or other tracer-baring weapons). Once you get to the last 5 or so shots, you can put on your gun and every shot will be a tracer...so..yay <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
To snap necks you use the equivalent of the square button (as mentioned above). When you press it, Snake should make a grabbing/flinching motion forward. When you're by a guard and do it you should grab him (from behind works best, obviously). Once you have him: you can drag him (he'll struggle sometimes, but just press the grab button again and snake will tighten his arm - if you press it enough, eventually you'll hear a crack, and if no one noticed you you'll get a cool bonus ration or ammo).
Of course, you get the bonus ration/ammo/grenades for any stealth kill, so a silenced SOCOM (you get a silencer later, I think there might be one for the FA-MAS, but there's definitely a SOCOM one) works too.
Of course, I don't have a Gamecube and it's all of the PSone version I played 3 years ago...so pfffft - should work.

They removed weapons for that entire floor. :(
Because now since you can shoot in FPS mode and on the ground you could clear out the whole room w/ a SOCOM...
I'll give a bit more gamecube-specific help:
To choke people, get behind em and hit A while you have no weapon equipped. Rapidly press A and they'll grunt each time till SNAP goes their neck :D
Snake automatically reloads a clip when he fires the last bullet, but this takes time. There's a feature called the "tactical reload" and the way it works is before you run completely out of ammo quickly tap R to unequip the weapon and hit R again to re-equip it, and you'll have a fully loaded clip. :)
Remember the joystick is an analog controller, so if you push it just a little in the direction you want to move Snake will walk instead of run. This is very useful when trying to cross a noisy floor.
To walk/run while you have your weapon ready to fire, press and hold B (the punch button). It was crouch to do this in the original, but its Punch now, which is actually a whole lot better. This can make some things insanely easier, such as the Ocelot boss fight, and its almost essential for the Comm Tower climb.
If you have the manual, read it. In the back there are lots of nifty tricks like every single thing I've mentioned here, plus some more.

Or don't they have radios?
How is it possible to shoot people that are in the area where you can't shoot at all? <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
You crouch down and lie flat underneath the big cargo door where you get in, there is the gap through which you have to crawl, don't go all the way though, equip the sniper rifle and I'm sure you can guess what comes next. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Well done.
Here's two questions, closely related.
1. Who was the President at the time?
2. What does the Secretary of Defense want?<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
George Sears(SPOILER Solidus Snake SPOILER) and Jim Houseman, the Secretary of Defense wants people arrested for treason and Shadow Moses blown up with nuclear weapons. I assume that is what the question asks.
