The cigar room

A good idea
I saw a good site www.cofr.net posted on here and while looking around it I noticed they had something called a cigar room.

This is where threads full of flames are sent, anyone who wants to continue flaming can do so but they have to do it in the CR.

Obviously everyone is going to try and stay out of there as anyone who ends up in there will be looked down upon. Maybe there should be two postcounts, one for the general forums and one for the CR room so we can see how often they post there just by looking at their names.

That way there is even less censorship but a stronger motivation for 'playing nicely' with the others in the forum. Something that may be needed when NS comes out and we have an large influx of people.

[Edit]Could this be moved to off-topic, I had too many windows open and made this in the wrong place, sorry[/Edit]

seeing the post Flay made about bashing and flaming people, i'm pretty sure they won't create a forum like that.

Plus, just because it's a publically created kind of censorship and none put up by the admins, it's still censorship: You don't want to get nuked, so you don't post it - you don't want to go to the CR, so you don't post it.
    No big difference to me.

Lock them, send them to the cigar room and nuke the flaming.

My point is it will save effort for the moderators when the flood of new guys begins.
I guess you could do the same now, put red flags by peoples names (Im sure thye have that now but I mean so that the public can see) and then they will have them as a kind of mark of shame. They will behave more because they can see just how little it will take for them to get kicked. Maybe a flag will dissappear after a certain length of time so that someone can be given the chance to learn from their mistakes.
We have that kind of system now but its too informal. Someone could post loads of rubbish before they get kicked, some people may make one bad post and then it sticks to their name forever instead of being given a chance. A formal system would help to make people understand that being on this board is a privilege and not a right. It will be clearer that they have crossed the line...
Although saying that Im a good boy and so maybe I just havent yet tasted the full wrath of the mods
Nem: nukings dont matter much if they arent permanently noted, someone may have thousands of nuked posts to their name but if I dont visit that end of the forum much I wont have know.

Thanks for moving this thread mods

    Edited as I missed something

A whole forum for flaming? The forum I modded at had a forum to vent your rage out, but flaming shouldn't be encouraged, even when controlled.

A new town for murderers? I mean, screw the jails, just send them to the town!

Nah, there shouldn't be a thing like "cigar room". People will tell them about NS info that they don't know. Plus I dont think people new to NS are new to the forums, they probably DO know about the search button

Some flamers might not CARE if they have a red mark next to their name.
