Problems Regarding Cyberspace Provider Network

<div class="IPBDescription">Will Natural Selection work with me?</div> Hello sirs. My name is Fox in the Box and I am new here.
My friend has accelerated information superhighway capabilities, because he lives in an area where he can get this technology. He has Natural Selection, however he is very skinny and mostly plays Diablo II over the information superhighway.
I, however, enjoy Natural Selection. Unfortunately, my information superhighway browsing capabilities are hampered by my cyberspace provider network. I called them and they said, <i>"Sorry, you live in an area where you do not have access to hyspee[sic?] dinner-net [sic?] and you have a [i]'shìtty dial-up connection'</i> " and then I hung up the telephone.
I live in a remote area where there are few houses but many dirt fields.

As you can see I am very sad, even though we have purple mountain ranges.
Anyway, my location is apparently inappropriate for hyspee[sic?] dinner-net[sic?]. I pondered my cyberspace capabilities, and why they lacked so. I then went into my parents room to pet my cat, who was laying in a cat-bed. I then saw out the window a dog. It was not our dog, but belonged to some rednecks who live across the street. Anyway, this dog was loose.

And he urinated on my tree out front. I did not like dogs peeing on my trees, because only I can pee on my trees, and it's my tree. If the dog had a tree, he can do so as he pleases, but he peed on MY TREE! That dog is very inconsiderate. I was angry and I wanted to throw a brick at the dog, unfortunately my dad locked his brick safe and I couldn't find any bricks. This distracted me from my current problem however.
There was still the issue of my cyberspace provider network. The telecommunications cable that runs through my computer into the telecommunications infrastructure [sic?] needs to be taped in, otherwise I experience "packet loss" and "www.worldsex.com/asians cannot be displayed" error boxes on my monitor screen.

As you can see, taping is required to maintain data-flow into the telecommunications infrastructure [sic?].
My question is this: Can I play Natural Selection with my current 'shìtty dial-up connection' ? Is it possible for me to enjoy this game, or is it impossible? Your responses will be appriciated.

i see you say you r not too comptuer smart but that is okay because luckee for you I do not know a lot about english but I know a lot about computars!
fierst of all before I confuse you with my bittorriental information rainfall (computer talk for talking about downloading the internet) we'll fix your dog
you first need a brick and a dog.
you use teh brick on dog like in monkey island adventure game and cutscene will play and your dog will be out on floor with xes for eyes and then stars floating around head. that was the easy part but getting brick might be like you'll have to talk to pirates (or maybe dad ( or maybe your dad is a pirate ) ) or some locksmith / safe breaker.
ok on to next problem (now that I solved first problem u can see that I know what i am talking about)
as for not being able to download broadband to ocmputer maybe you just need omre space or something I think you should go get more ram at best buy (but do not install it yourself it si very intense procedure that even I cannot do. I know because they told me so at best buy that it is hard and I'd break it because it is delicate procedure). anyway
is this game playable on the 56 kilabits of inforametion bandwidth (comptuer speek for slow **** wire) ?? I am goeng to say yes if you can find a FAST SERVER (that is not connected to 56 kilbit information port wire). because you need one with a ping (how fast computaers talk to eachother) that is around 200 or at least undar 300... which isn 't a bad ping I own everyone at counter strike at that ping in japan (since japanese have really slow talking servers!!) and then they wonder why I am t3h win already (little do they know I have help from sun tzu).
so if you are new ya i think you can play this game but watch out for zero if you see him please get under his command immediately (he is a great commander and will teach you how to play marines and aliens and how to get t3h win so to speak in laymens terms). welcome to NS! (if you are new)

i can tell you this: the last time I hung up on someone without saying GOODBYE they came by and killed my dog and cat (i was sad for 8 days), so that might solve one of your problems. however I can't be so sure they only kill pets they might come and take your dad away with axe so you will never be able to get brick on dog.

Anyway, there are some things you can do to bring your ping down in NS games to a playable level. For 56k, I recommend the following settings: (Type them in the console)
rate "5200"
cl_updaterate "20"
cl_cmdrate "30"
Then type "net_graph 4" in the console and watch the numbers next to "Choke" and "Loss" as you play the game. Adjust the above settings up and down until they both constantly stay at 0. That's the best you can do, right now.
Liku, recently had 400-1000 ping playing CS. Turned out Steam was being "helpfull" and had reset my rate to 1500 and my connection to 14.4k

If a guy like you really does have to play on dial-up, something is terribly wrong.

rate 2500
cl_cmdrate 30
cl_updaterate 20
When It gets really laggy I'll change my cl_cmdrate and updaterate to 10, but then your mic gets skippy and no one can understand you <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Gah, I started writing a rant that would quite possibly result in a ban, but on reflection i'll stick to this:
If you're too young to handle a few little swears, you shouldn't be playing NS, let alone posting on these forums.
*edit* O.k, it turned into a mini-rant instead so I changed it again. Wouldnt want to "offend" anyone would I...*edit*
Anyway, I used to play CS, NS with 56k. It's not all that bad after you get used to it. Try the tweaking the other people mentioned, and get an Anti-spyware program to make sure nothing is eating at your precious limited bandwidth. Also avoid topped out servers, they will run slower.
