Your opinion??
Ok. I know that this has probably been discussed enough times already, but I really just want to know what everyone's view is on the changes with the Lerk in 3.0
You know, flying and the removal of spikes? What do you think?
Sure, spikes were kinda cheap at times when a Lerk would just sit in the vent and spike people to death early on in the games. But now, is bite nessarily that much better? I personally think that it's nice to have bite back, and flying is MUCH better now.

Spikes were good and actually made the lerk more useful because it was an early alien that could do distance damage.
Right now the lerk has 3 weapons which purpose is only to help the rest of the team: spores (not very efficient so only a few merines die to it), umbra and primal scream.
Right now a lerk 1 on 1 agains a marine can rely only on bite.
-"omg new flight sucks arse. I cant do anything"

-"oooOOH!!"
And I dont miss spikes. I think average velocity of an unloaded lerk (Monty Python, anyone? ) should be increased a bit, though.
I think that the major reason you rarely see lerks is that lerks can no longer assualt areas that marines have locked down with turrets due to no spikes and electrified turret factories. To do this you really need a fade and a fade can also take down single marines and smaller packs of marines with ease. For the 30 res they cost most people just save for fade.
I rarely play larger games (more then 16) so I can't really say that lerks aren't better in larger games, but when was the last time you saw a lerk in a small game before endgame that did well?
I still vote to merge bite/spike so that when you're flying you bite, but when you're standing you spike...best of both worlds.
I usually ended up without any energy left.
Now you can fly towards someone and bite them with only a few scratches.
I always had to sit down in my umbra cloud and use spikes while getting shot at.
I like it how it is.
