Money comes in installments.  If a jerk pops in the seat and isn't immediately benifical to the team it's quite easy to spot.  If he plays along for a while, then the team gets good stuff until he shows his true intentions- every marine has a view of total resources available (and likely tech tree info should they desire it), so it can be voted on right away no problem.

Just remember no game is 100% idiot proof.  However in this scenario you have a way to remedy the bad situation.  And he can't re-enter the CC for the rest of the game.  I've heard AdminMod type stuff is easy to use for NS, so if there is a persistent jerk, screwing with every game, that too can be remedied.

If all else fails and you can change servers or host a lan party.  But you should have options a-plenty before venturing down such paths.

I would just take a tire iron to the back of his head while he was busy commanding.

Yeah I thought about that problem too. I'm a really good player actually, not to brag but I usually have the top score in games I play on most mods. But my favorite thing to do is command. Especially in like Star Craft and Warcraft games. When I play multiplayer on those I can get really good strategies together with my allies and so I think I'm a pretty decent commander too. So that's what I want to do. But what if I never get a chance? That would be pretty annoying. But oh well eventually I should get in the chair right?

    I don't know about that...

I mean there aren't many RTS/FPS MOD/games out there. I mean even if you were good at either genere, your strategy would be totally different. As in the RTS mode, your trooups have a mind of their own. They don't contiually fire like some stupid AI bots. And for the FPS part, well, it's just really different.

Of course, what if the entire marine team is made up of jerks who vote out a perfectly good commander  . I guess they wouldn't be worth commanding anyway.

One other problem that may arise is people voting out a commander just because that seems to be the "thing to do." I'm not sure if it works differently, but I can't count the CS games where someone gets kicked just cause a stupid admin started a vote, and everyone pressed "1" for no reason.

Hope that isn't an ego trip, because there is no personal score for the marines at all.  There is for the aliens, but no commander.  So if your concerned about personal frag count, HLDM might be more your style  <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

As for the "team of twits" on marines, well, it'll just be an easy win for the aliens then won't it <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

something I'd like to point out that nobody else has yet, once a commander is voted out he cannot get back into the commander seat for the rest of the game. so no worries about a recently voted out commander hopping back in...

Actually I did mention that- though it wasn't the main topic of my post.  So  <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo--> nyahhh!!
