<div class="IPBDescription">Watch your attachments</div> Hopefully for most of you, email worms are becoming painfully obvious to notice. I got 5 of these today, so I thought I'd through a heads up:

<a href='http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.netsky.p@mm.html' target='_blank'>http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcen...etsky.p@mm.html</a>

This one seems pretty nastey. Remember, kids, don't ever, ever, EVER download or open an attachment that you're not expecting, and even then not without scanning it mercilessly.

    Thanks for the heads-up rob. I get a lot of computer newbies at the cafe, at least now I can keep an eye on them <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    ahhh, THATS the one.

    yah my house mates have been getting hammered with this one recently (they both have Macs and are computer savy and are thus in no danger of infection, its just anoying to have your inbox filled)

    Ahhh, good old DOS. How I long for it again...

    I get sooo many virii/worms in my email from nubcaeks having me on their contact list. On the plus side though, theyll probably definently notice this one when they eventually pick it up, and itll bork their computers so they stop sending me crap.

    Thanks for the heads up though.

    There's a reason I love Linux... no virii or worms that'll realistically get into your machine, no script kiddiots trying to backdoor ICS or IIS, and greater flexibility if you know your hindparts from a SCSI cable.

    At least get some e-mail client that ISN'T so full of security holes as Outlook Express, nor a browser that actually COMPLIES to standards, rather than ignoring and outright breaking them (as IE does), to the point of allowing malicious code to be run just by downloading an e-mail from the POP3 server, or looking at a website without clicking a darn thing, or looking at a 'JPG' file which is actually an embedded XML file that IE happily gobbles and infects your machine with.

    Bah on security warnings.

    Ditto that Talesin <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> .

    That's nothing that I should worry about, but thanks for the heads up Rob <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->.

    Atleast now I know what I'm laughing at when I laugh at a friend who has his system screwed because of this.

    Some garden-variety common sense is always useful, too. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    The way I see it, if youre clever enough to figure out how to install, configure and useLinux for every day stuff, then youre probably clever enough not to open these emails in the first place, and probably clever enough to have a firewall and an antivirus running. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Changed the topic title, the viruses qualified name should be Netsky, or Netsky.P, not P@mm.

    But p@mm is soooo much sexier.

    We all know how much you like P@mm rob. Do not worry, Im sure one day, when you meet that one lucky girl, you will be able to release little P@mm's of your very own!

    Terminator Fans... lol

    I get about 10 of these a day and I NEVER sign up for anything with my GOOD e-mail account, what I'd like to know is how did Mr. Netsky get my e-mail addy? Damn Spyders, probably. Meh.

    Oh and no one bothers to write worms or virii for Linux because more people use Windows. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    To hell with virii and worms and trojans and spyware! Damn you all!

    But it's OK, I use BitDefender and Mozilla Thunderbird. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Seriously, I just cleaned up a nasty virus that added 220KB to EVERY executable on my HDD, my space was going F-A-S-T, so be cautious when you're checking your mail and downloading from the net everyone.

    It comes from your friends and family who have infected computers. If I recall correctly, once someone is infected, it searches through their computer for email addresses and sends emails to 'em at regular intervals.

    That means theres ~10 people that knows your 'GOOD' email address are infected <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
