No. That is called "Movement Special."
Give us more info OP and we'll check it out.

It's just sad that this is the kind of world we live in. $30,000 lost? Ouch. Sorry UWE.

Jona, I really want to make it clear: I respect the creativity and hard work that went into Descent amd Docking, but they aren't my cup of tea. That's just a preference of course. I would have been very excited to see the same grit… -

That just sounds so apathetic to me. I want to share my honest feelings about the maps with the community, and know that I put my desires and wishes out there. Now, whether or not anything changes, I am satisfied. I have said my pi… -
I have a question. I have texture streaming enabled. At the beginning of a game r_stats 1 says "[insert number greater than 0 here] wating on GPU." However, towards the end of a game it drops to 0ms waiting on GPU all the time. Is texture streaming …

I felt like skulks moved like bricks in 240. After playing around with 241 everything seems "normal." Skulk movement seemed fine. It must have been a subtle change. I'm not sure I would have figured out there was a bug unless UWE told me so. :P

I use the scroll wheel and MAN is it ever annoying that pistol is UP instead of DOWN. In like... I don't know... every FPS game EVER (pretty much) SCROLL DOWN goes to your secondary weapon.
I can't tell you how many times I have died to … -
Some of you have reminded me of the following:
- No weldables
- No elevators
- No "buttons"
The maps in NS2 are not interactive at all. -
My recommendations:
- i5 2500k (~$220)
- Geforce GTX 550 ti (~$130)
- LGA 1155 Mobo (~$100)
- 8gb 1600 or greater RAM (~$45)
All in all, you're looking at about $500. Your performance will be very good, howe… -

Am I being nostalgic? Sure. Nostalgia plays a part in all of this. I admit that.
But I don't think nostalgia accounts for all of it.
Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know. All I know is that I don't enjoy NS2 as muc… -

The idea is to benchmark the game with everything turned on and maxed out OR with everything turned off or on low. The only exceptions to this would be multicore rendering and texture streaming. Vertical Sync should be OFF.
I would just like to affirm that I experienced this bug also, at least in part. I was unable to evolve to any higher lifeform or get any upgrades. It was incredibly frustrating.
I made a video. Sorry, no demo, because you can't start a d…I am wondering if this is how it looks for everyone. I have an nVidia GTX 480. I am getting the same thing.
All settings maxed out. Latest Drivers (EDIT: Almost... Oops! Updating drivers now). Windows 8 Pro.(Quote)
And this is the problem with NS2 right now. The winner is usually determined very early on and the other side simply cannot turn the tide. This was not the case with NS1. The end result is that NS1 was a lot more fun to play. I am …(Quote)
The 980x is an amazing processor. I have a 2600k myself. Any chance you could show how hard each core is working while playing NS2? I have my 2600k @ 4.6Ghz and it absolutely slams one core. Is it the same for you?
Also…Concede is being abused right now and it is making the game very unfun. Counter-Strike: GO has an "Abandon Match" feature in Competitive mode but it also has constraints. You can't abandon the match unless a player abandons your team first. There sh…(Quote)
Great to have you as a part of the community. Would you mind recording a benchmark according to the rules of the Official Benchmark Thread sometime (posted above)? It would really help the community out so they know what to expect …I just wanted everyone to know that I have updated the Benchmarks thread for Gorgeous Build 240. It is now recommended that you either benchmark on ns2_summit or ns2_descent (yay, new map). Also, for those who may be playing on laptops or lower-end …I hate to see performance drive people away, but the reality is that I just benchmarked my rig on Descent for 20 minutes and here are the results:
Minimum FPS: 27
Maximum FPS: 72
Average FPS: 48
All settings maxed…No. I do not believe the game will run smooth with that setup. Your GPU isn't even up to par with a 9800 GT (sorry, Nvidia comparison), and I'm not sure what CPU you have. Is it a Core 2 Duo? If so, it will likely be able to run the game but it won'…I largely agree with Kei-chan. Skulks feel like bricks now and I have only seen marines win once since this latest patch. But that was because the marines were awful. They beat themselves.
The biggest problem I feel is the nerfed skulk m…(Quote)
As I am sure many have said, CPU is the bottleneck. My i7 2600k and GTX 480 run the game at about 60 FPS with nearly everything maxed out. I step ambient occlusion down to medium and usually turn off atmospherics and bloom because …It's hard to say. That 320m is not going to like NS2 very much. I think your CPU and your RAM are good enough to run the game on low, but the 320 scares me. I just don't know.in Can I Run It? 320m Comment by DarkATi March 2013

I'm not sure what you mean by "bottleneck" in regard to shadows, because Ambient Occlusion, Atmospherics, and Bloom all affect the CPU load in what I would call significant ways - especially Ambient Occlusion. It's a real resource …(Quote)
Yeah, I asked him to do that. Still, he's the first person I've seen to get 200 fps on the menu screen. Maybe it is more common than I think; I don't know. I can only get 160 with everything off and on low (i7 2600k @ 4.6Ghz w/ GTX…(Quote)
Hardcoded into the engine? Why? I guess I do not understand what the purpose of such a hardcoded limit would be.
Cheers,

I guess I didn't know NS2 was limited to 200 FPS. Few systems ever reach 200 FPS... I can only get 160 on the menu. Anyway, is there any way to unlimit the FPS? In console perhaps? I know it can be done in source (fps_max).

That is a monster setup! My word! Just out of curiosity, would you mind adjusting your settings to the OP's and taking a screenshot of your FPS just on the menu screen like he has done? I'd love to see how many frames you get.
