I've just fired up the game for the first time in quite a while and just playing naturally - i.e. not looking stuff up - to see how it goes.
It's pretty awful. I found all the seamoth fragments easily very early on and have been swimming… -

There's a story - we just don't have a lot of it yet.
I think it's likely that the story will lead us to locales with progressively better tech. -
It's definitely not just you so there's probably nothing you can do to fix it. We'll just have to sit tight and wait for the devs to figure it out.

I'm crashing constantly and that's never been a problem before this update.
Though it might be steam rather than Subnautica? I'm experiencing the exact same problem with Astroneer and many are claiming they played the Microsoft Store ver… -

And worse now because more things require silver, like the fabricator requiring 3 where before it needed none. -
I read this in the update notes and was curious to see how a new game would be.

I'm freezing and crashing quite a bit. That's very unusual for me.
I'd occasionally freeze if piloting my seamoth at speed and the game needed to catch its breath. Almost never crashed. But now it's freezing and crashing regularly. -
Just a small thing to add - those who purchased early (like us) will get the cutefish as a reward.

How prominently does the cyclops feature in these dreams?

Yes. Outstanding features? Planets generally don't have a lot of those. They're lumps of rock hurtling through space which occasionally pick up an outstanding feature or two courtesy of stellar or geographical shenanigans.

Seriously - you haven't even played NMS but you're certain they're ripping off Subnautica. Holy crapsnacks!
And yes it is utterly 100% true that modular building (i.e. what both Subnautica and NMS have) is extremely com…(Quote)
Based on their official statement, we'll never see co-op in Subnautica, but might in a sequel.(Quote)
That's a very fan-tastic interpretation.
Modular building (eg. Subnautica), as opposed to blocks (eg. Minecraft) is in plenty of other computer games. It's very common.
In the case of NMS it's how NPC struct…Quite a few good indie games this year but Subnautica is the one I've racked up the most hours on. By a wide margin. So it got my vote.
Good luck to them in the awards.(Quote)
Since what the devs actually very clearly said was that mp was at best possible but in no way guaranteed, your friends should steal some of your shit and sell it to recoup their losses.(Quote)
If that roadmap were gospel the game would have launched this month or indeed earlier. It is clearly labelled with the warnings "our best guess", "looks official but we have no idea" and "subject to change". Nothing in Subnautica's…(Quote)
If the Degasi was a smaller vessel and hit by an energy pulse of a similar intensity to the one which hit the Aurora and caused it to crash, it might have been much more badly damaged. Sufficient damage from the initial pulse could…(Quote)
It's purpose has changed over time but the wiki is now saying their primary mission was to build a phasegate so that would explain the large engineering compliment.(Quote)
So to be clear, you can't actually provide anything to support your claim that the second law of thermodynamics has been disproved.

I don't think they've promised anything re further development or multi-player.(Quote)
Maybe the planet is but we play on a fairly miniscule map. It can feel big in its full 3 dimensions but 2 dimensionally we are in a tiny square of ocean. You can zip from one side of the map to the other in a seamoth extremely quic…(Quote)
I agree that their short range and not stacking makes them more fiddly to use than is probably ideal, especially since we can carry multiple O2 tanks.
Theoretically they could be useful for new players exploring wrecks …(Quote)
Since you're playing on EXPERIMENTAL you should expect occasional weirdness like this.
Report it though cos that feedback is what tells developers there's a problem so they can fix it.(Quote)

The current generator is effectively an immobile, constant power-free repulsion gun attack. It can be used as a directional shield. Can be good around bases to keep predators away or deployed temporarily to guard your back.
That first pic reminds me of an SG-1 ring transporter... Come to think of it, the reaper leviathan looks a bit like a giant goa'uld and does have that nasty habit of trying to facehug.
It all makes perfect sense now.
