I just noticed this same thing after talking 2 hours some1 said my mic doesnt work. I have usb headset. I went to options see what settings there were and checked that they were fine, went back to the game and voila my mic is working lol.

NS1 is almost as dark as NS2 "normally". Just go to the GFX settings and boost desktop gamma, u should know this if u are NS1 vet
