This is ###### criminal when you realize that the blizzard studio makes a game like every 3 years or so.

It's hard to rationalize exactly what the hell blizzard is doing. As far as I'm concerned they are an evil empire siphoning the riches and work hours of the world away into an empty meaningless hell. I don't see how the hell anyone or any capitalist company can make 100 million dollars on a monthly basis and sit on it with big grins on their face. They are quite literally doing massive damage to sociaty as a whole.

nope, not doing anything. they don't have servers to keep up, support staff to train and pay, patches to put out or forums to moderate. nothing at all...

Ok, this one came up three times. Estimate the cost of this please. I doubt it even comes close to 1mil per month... Even if it does, how many million can you seriously devote to that... Where does the other 99-90 million per month go?

The servers and bandwidth costs are huge, no doubt, and ya, they have maintenance people doing alot of work all the time to keep that stuff up and running. But battlenet was also a huge cost way back when when bandwidth and servers cost alot more money, and they somehow ran that without charging every starcraft player 20 dollars per month.

Frankly, I don't think anyone in the whole of gaming expected WoW to do quite as well as it did, even blizzard. That being said, they don't really have a good reason now to sit on a hundred million dollars a month. EA makes alot less then that yet they somehow churn out 20 some odd titles a year. There's just no good reason for a studio with THAT much profit to be producing content THAT slowly.

Blizzard is ###### obnoxiously rich by any reasonable world standard, and I'd like an explanation of what the hell is happening.

Time will prove you wrong Redford, or as they say: history has a way of repeating itself.

someone doesn't know the cost of high-end bandwidth and servers. akamai's "average" enterprise-level plans start at 92k/mo. as a rough* estimate, i'd place blizzard's bandwidth bills in the ballpark of 2M (raw bandwidth, add server soft/hardware, maintenance, personell, and overhead)
    *around 10TiB/mo sound reasonable?

Why do they need a reason? They made a product that tons of people love enough to pay them to use and now they are super-rich from it. GOOD FOR THEM. Why is that wrong in any way?
