<div class="IPBDescription">(with encryption)</div>I shared this in the Tactical Gamer forums (<a href="http://www.tacticalgamer.com/general-discussion/84942-mozy-com-free-personal-backup-solution-w-encryption.html" target="_blank">original thread</a>), and it was fairly well received. I've benefited a bit from the referrals, and my pointing it out to people there was fairly well received, so I thought I'd share it here, too (I searched here and found no matches). It's basically a free, online service which allows you to remotely backup your files with encryption (yours or theirs). I thought it was useful. Hopefully someone else here will, too.

Educate yourself. I'm not about to vouch for something that involves you sending your personal files across the internets.

I've been using it for a couple of months, with daily backups. Zero problems, FWIW. Who knows how many people have my files by now.

If you like it, sign up. If you sign up, please use the link above. I think I get some more space (or maybe you do -- I forget).<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I buy a lot of my music digitally from stores that don't link it to your account like iTunes, so if you lose all of your copies, you just have to rebuy the file. I'm using Mozy to back them up just in case. Thanks.

Like I said in the TG thread, I wouldn't use it for my silo launch codes, but it's nice to have some double or triple or quadruple protection on stuff you want to keep safe.

Isn't there some kind of rule about referral links on these forums?

Either way, I do my own backups, and store the safely. There's no f***ing way I'm entrusting my data to someone to backup. That was, if you forget to backup, or you lose them, then there's no one else to blame except yourself...

I just generally email the stuff I want to back up to my gmail address. I trust google's servers far more than my own.

And if you want to make that even easier, check out <a href="http://www.viksoe.dk/code/gmail.htm" target="_blank">Gmail Drive Shell Extension</a>. It makes a drive in "My Computer" that links to your gmail account to let you store and retrieve stuff.
