also, does it matter if I put my sun goggles or NVG inside the helmet slots or does it have to go on the head slots?

Why would you put night vision goggles in your helmet slot, instead of a helmet?

Yep. I attach NVGs to my helmets and put sunglasses and an extended ear in the head slots. I don't know if that works but I never fight at night anyways, so hoorah.
