Shadows of Colossus

<div class="IPBDescription">In Counter Strike:Sauce</div>Saw this in the 1UP news feed. Probably one of the most beautiful and zomg map ever made for CS:S. I mean... look at all those details, that insane sky box and the custom combine tripod fighting a colossus!

The map is a 160 meg download. Haven't downloaded it yet cause of my computer being on crapmode right now but I so badly want a new computer (and my broadband back) just so I can walk around this map.

    I'll give the guy props for attempting to capture the art of the game, but it looks nothing like one of the Colossi from SotC. Looks like a Gundam if anything.

    The modeling and texturing is nice, yeah, but that map has gotta devour system resources. He also mentioned that the map itself was 160 mb with all those custom textures, those must be some pretty high res stuff...

    From everything i heard about this map it's not really built to be played and instead was made as a portfolio piece. As such, people running about it haven't rated the gameplay of it much and mentioned it killing framerates. Pretty and lots of work, but shallow in the areas it was never built for (like actually playing it) :3

    Also, poor screenshots of the fight. More distance for better overview please. Making a huge gigantic model and then taking a screenshot where you can only see a tiny fraction of it kinda defeats the entire point.

    when I came here, I expected to find someone had recreated the SotC world in Source. Then I looked at the screenshots and I was like wth, I don't remember SotC taking place in an Italian villa...

    The map runs well on my rig, which is a duo 6600 and geforce 7900 GT.

    It's certainly a very pretty map, with a strong style and some obviously very talented modelling. As a CS map though, I'm no expert but I would guess that it is too complex as there really are tons of ways to move about.

    You can't fault the modelling though, it's top notch. You could, if you were feeling nit picky, say that the overall style was somewhat OTT. It really is a ridiculously detailed map, not that I'm jealous or anything : )

    Been playing this on the OTC custom server (http://www.the-otc.com) and it's fun. I think it IS made for gameplay. I played it for over 30 minutes before I discovered the lower cellar halls and such.

    This is a gorgeous map, and even on my Geforce 6800 and 3.0P4 system, it runs great at 1680x1050.

    ~shrug~ well the main guy behind the map (it was a collaboration) said it was primarily a Portfolio piece rather than a map designed for play. I don't doubt there's some gameplay in it but like I say... it's not the main reason for it's creation :3
