It's fine with me. Just means I have time to build a new system first since I generally cba to boot to XP on my current system just to play games.
Not enough. for the price. But it was good, challenging play and the second trip with comments added value for me. Still, it felt hella short when I finished it for the first time. Like every section could have another map added on.

Agreed. Although one thing I hated was how they extended the gameplay in a ridiculous way. Anybody remember the part where you discover some new trap every time after entering a vent, while alyx waits outside? Dear god, that was ######. Trial & error.
As for episode 2, I'll get it, but I'm not going OMG NOES DELAYED about it.
was episode 1 worth it? how much playtime was it?

<a href="http://www.steampowered.com/status/ep1/" target="_blank">Average playtime was between 3.5 and 4.5 hours</a>. The actual "average" was a bit above 5 but that's including the weird people. Lots of us played it at least twice, once for real and once for the commentary. I thought it was totally worth the cash; every bit as good as HL2 was, and most of the parts I liked even more than average.

I agree. $17.50 well spent. Not to mention, currently the best graphics on the PC.

*cough*rainbowsixvegas*cough*
ep2 does have more open gameplay so i should imagine it is harder to make more drivables and bigger maps kidna pushing the engine a lil too.

Vegas is pretty, but the art direction and general atmosphere don't get anywhere close to HL2. The dystopian world, the amazing facial animation, the HDR lighting and the austere design of the Citadel contrasted with the barren remains of City 17... it's one of the prettiest games available.

Atmosphere != graphics.
It's graphically better. Unreal3 engine ftw.
edit: intermezzo on the facial animation: I can't wait for Heavy Rain.

Vegas' does beat it.
But the Episode 2 stuff may take Vegas' version of it back over. <3

Not really. I finished it in 4 hours and wondered what the hell I had wasted $40ish NZ on. A babysit the bot simulator?
BAH.
Episode 2 should be well worth it though. It's apparently much longer than Ep1, has TF2 and Portal looks really snazzy (I'm most interested in portal TBH).
But valve couldn't stick to a schedule if it killed them.

I fail to see how my death would speed things along. (Had to say it)
*whips T_h_e_m for ep2 being delayed*

That and my nick is (supposed to be) Them. Get it? "even if it killed <b>them</b>."
Oh man, if only I was as funny as I am in my head. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

See, that's just about the only positive aspect I've ever imagined when it comes to our eventual slavery via a giant machine that we're all hooked up to. When we can all read each others' mind, all my spectacular brilliance that I somehow just can't get across in everday life will be apparent, and all will bow before me.
If they weren't locked in to digi-slave chairs of course.
I won't be playing Portals after I eat, that's for sure.
<strike>Anyone know what the difference between the two boxes is?</strike>
Edit: I need to learn how to click links and take data.
not to say its all crap, but ep1 is overpriced, and i won't be buying it. Ep2 and Portal i'm interested in, and i might have a play with TF2, provided the combat classes are actually combat classes and the support classes are support classes (eg medics not being the primary assault class)
Edit: That is to say, I didn't spend money on Doom full stop. I didn't enjoy the game and wouldn't have enjoyed it more by paying money to broadcast the fact that I'm the proud owner of a flashlight and a pair of hands that can open doors like nobody's business.
