<div class="IPBDescription">(portal)</div>There's an <a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/News/Story/200703/N07.0302.1313.05101.htm?Page=1" target="_blank">interesting new article</a> up at GameInformer about Portal, but if you're like me, you're functionally illiterate and you will jump straight to the <a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/News/Media/Media.htm?CS_pid={B456DD95-4DFA-4989-AF64-F73E85A20479}" target="_blank">incredibly awesome new videos</a>. My hope levels are in a state of constant flux; I want Episode 2, with its aweesome story development and its new rendering technology and outdoor maps, and then I see some Team Fortress 2 stuff and can't wait for some fast-paced multiplayer action and neato exaggerated graphics, and then we get this Portal crap and I decide that it's probably the most awesome thing in that pack of 3.
Frankly I don't know how much longer I can wait. I am lithe and nimble, and I think it's possible that I can sneak in to Valve's offices during the night and steal some release candidates. I will contemplate my future course of action, but rest assured if I pull any ninja crap I'll let you all know how it turns out. I'd spell out my plan beforehand so you guys could critique it, but [WHO]Them works at Valve and reads these forums, and he could probably break any bone in my body with either one of his hands, although he might need to snap me over his knee to get my spine. So I'm going to keep mum.

Thank you for the links.
I had also just download the highrez trailers for BioShock today. So now I have new stuff for the 2 games I am drooling about currently. Thank you!
I don't want to watch any more now since that's basically spoiled one of the rooms for me when the game comes out.

Hmm, good point. *decides not to watch* Unless they made a room just for showing off?
--Scythe--
IF that is what this "game" is all about, of course :/
... got mixed feelings here, on the one hand it looks cool/awesome on the other hand it looks to be boring after a while...

doesn't seem that way - There's voice acting in each video and the article says the videos/preview is from 10 of the PC versions levels. There's only 25-30 (I forget what it specifically said) so that's one down for me and i've never seen it in person <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
So... ehm... Thats all this game is? Minigames and small puzzles to get from room to room? I'm afraid this game is going to get old after a few rooms...

Yeah geez I can't imagine how people lived back when you actually needed to think to play a game. I mean, Tetris? Who would play <i>that</i>.
The game is called Nabacular Drop and can be player for free (check the bottom of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narbacular_Drop)" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narbacular_Drop)</a>. The game is quite fun and gives a good impression of what portal actually is.
I'm looking forward to portal <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

I'm watching the video and it's fun and Portal will rule; sadly, a game based around "puzzles" isn't going to be too fun several times over. Luckily, a speedrun's going to be awesome.

Yup, that and user generated levels.
My one curiosity is if one of the sorta game breaking mechanics made it into Portal from Narbacular Drop (those that have played NarbDrop know what I am talking about, but I don't really want to spoil stuff for other people)

<!--coloro:#042530--><span style="color:#042530"><!--/coloro-->you can create portals on a wall you can see through your portals.
1) Drop portal A next to you, toss portal B to a far wall.
2) Look through Portal A and retoss Portal B further on in the level.
3) Repeat as needed.
If you remember the level in NarbDrop that forces you to go around these walls so you can land on tiny little platforms, you can actually just stand at the first one and create a portal chain to the objective<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->

But I wasn't paying too much attention and my theory might be wrong but it'd fix it. I'd like to see what would happen if you placed both portals on the same spot and essentially make a mirror that you couldn't go through since you'd be blocking yourself.
Now that's a trip.
meh, screw it.

you can't do that in portal they said early in tests they took it out.
I shall definitely play this puzzle game.
Say, I wonder if there's some sort of final boss where you have to constantly make new portals to aim dropped explosives or whatnot...
