Firefox Search Engine

Seconds ago, i installed the newest patch for Firefox 2.0.0.3.
When i was done, my Google searchbar was gone and i use it very much.
So i have been looking for it on their website to add the Google searchbar but it's not there anymore.

Arent Mozilla working with Google anymore or i just messed up during the new installation on the patch?
And where can i get the Google searchbar? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":angry:" border="0" alt="mad-fix.gif" />

in about:config there are a number of things you can fiddle with.

one of them will put that searchbar back
another will let you do keywords from the address bar (type in: "KEYWORD search term"). The defaults are "wp" for wiki and "google" for google (I think). some people set up the google one to simply be "g".
Oh, and don't forget that anything that you type into the address bar (that isn't a proper URL) should become a I'm feeling lucky search.


How to find all these things?
google it.

Also check your UI customization settings, maybe you removed it by accident. Just click on some empty space above the tab-bar (don't click the tab-bar though) and select Customize.

Okey, i fixed the problem on my own.
I found a very nice add-on, where you can add any pages you want to your search bar.

<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->In Firefox you can add keyword searches, which allows you to write "<keyword> <search text>" in your adress bar, and firefox will then search the search engine associated with the keyword, for the item/text you wrote afterwards (as the search text).

To do this, right click a search input thingy, select "Add a keyword for this search". then choose a keyword, for instance, I have "google" for google, "wiki" for Wikipedia. This will then make a bookmark in your bookmarks, which has the details it needs, just make a folder in your bookmarks to store these without it bothering you.

Opera does that too; it's quite handy. I have "g xxx" for google, "gv xxx" for Google video, "gi xxx" for Google Images, "mc xxx" for Metacritic, "imdb xxx" for IMDB, "wp xxx" for Wikipedia, "gr xxx" for Gamerankings, "d xxx" for Dictionary, "rt xxx" for Rotten Tomatoes, "ma xxx" for Memory Alpha, "z xxx" for Amazon, "bt xxx" for BitJunkie, and finally "yt xxx" for YouTube. A heck of a time saver.

Nice set up.

I should go through about:config and set those up, however I am lazy and simply just use the "I'm Feeling Lucky" search, and tack on thinks like "wiki" to the start to make sure I get them <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

or use the search boxes on google.com/ig

Yeah, I set up the same thing. It was cool when they made it easier to add your own searches from the interface, but I remember in previous versions having to manually edit the file that controlled it.
