    There is a huge difference censorship and moderation.

    It's a matter of principle.
    The fact, that a word is censored because it contains a word that might be seen as offensive and yet other words, that contain words that are censored are left alone.

    Hence the sal######er vs assassin example.
    Sal######er gets the ###### part censored out, but assassin does not get it's ###### parts censored.
    This is clearly against the principle of universal suffrage of words!

    Right, but this is a private medium, not an open forum. The right to free expression does not exist here. We encourage you to say what you want, when you want it, but we suggest you find a suitable medium for ideas and expressions that are deemed inappropriate for our forums.

    The swear filter in IPB isn't very smart, and if a few words get lost along the way, so be it for the countless hours of moderator time it saves.
