What did you dream of last night?

I had a very odd dream last night. I dreamt that, in the future (2030 or so), philosophy books had disappeared and all remaining knowledge of classical philosophy was hidden in very obscure songs of the 80s. A philosopher I was following would therefore go to a shady underground 80s club to study his art.

Weird, eh?

What did you dream of?

    Nothing.

I hardly ever dream and when I do, I'm <i>always</i> being chased by someone.

Funny that this should be posted right after I had a weird dream. A really weird dream.

First, I was driving my cousins, my aunt, and my uncle around a city (it was apparently the one I live in, but it was a lot like Las Vegas too). We were trying to find a French restaurant but I kept missing turns. It didn't help that they were all like "oh let's turn in to here" and it turned out to be an exit, not an entrance, or something like that.

Then I was Patrick Stewart in Alabama consulting with some lady as to whether or not she should continue with her planned plane trip or postpone it until 2010, which is the year a Future Patrick Stewart who appeared to me told me would save her from crashing in to a building on the plane trip (he presented the plane, sans a wing, as evidence, plus the registration papers).

Then (still in Alabama, no longer Patrick Stewart) I tried to track down a car full of people that had left me behind because I caught a red light when I was following them, then I was an X-COM (Terror from the Deep) commander hiring new people in the middle of a battlefield to fend off some aliens who were leaving a church (to set up supply lines).

Finally, I was eating fried squid eyeballs, which were considered the most delicious food in the galaxy (any part of the squid, really) and then I was watching a Vin Diesel made for TV movie about him being lost on a ship at sea.

    Normally they're not so weird.

    Edit: typo.

Mostly I have nightmares, but I did dream of Cate Blanchett last night. MMmmm..... well, nothing provocative. She just happened to be in it. I can't really remember the rest, though. It did involve Cedric the Entertainer, though, so it still was a nightmare, I think.

Having had multiple sleep studies let me add, with some degree of certainty, that everyone dreams. Nightly.

The catch is, everyone is different when it comes to the recalling them. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":0" border="0" alt="wow.gif" />

almost everyone has dreams you just don't remember them.

I can't recall last nights but I do remember one the other night - I was riding a bike down a street infront of a school and I saw a kid convulsing on the ground with black crap coming out of his mouth and all the other kids were around him unsure what to do. So I do a U-turn and try and help tilt him on his side so he can spit all the stuff up - it just kept coming and then I woke up.

I had a wierd dream too. Only when I have dreams I seem to have some degree of control over them. It's like a fully interactive movie. Unlike most people's dreams I can not only see and hear, but taste, smell, feel wind, feel warmth from a fire or chill from a blizzard.

Not only that but my dreams are following myself in what appears to be a completely other world. And they are consecutive. Yes sometimes I get random dreams but those usually start out as nightmares and are very rare. My other world's dreams are regular too.

And there is a name of this world I've heard other people/characters in the dream call it by: Xzianthia.

It gets so specific I swear that if I could shoot picture of it I could build some of the machines and places I've seen. The crystal halls of Ynenea's dominion. The Aska Redemptia ship. Even more so there is the ability to cast magic. I can really feel then energy I summon like the Chi energy in karate. If I'm casting a heal spell of some sort I really can feel the energy flowing out and the guts and blood vessels of the injured being being healed and reforming. It's damn cool to feel their body being healed with your energy. Or if I'm casting a massive lightning bolt I can feel the static energy gather and sting before I release it all like cracking a whip at at target. And it's more real than that because it can fail too. Blinking through a wall is cool (you feel your face go first and start to woosh through and reform on the other side and then the rest of your body) but scary as hell because I really don't want to make a mistake and kill myself or something.

How can you explain that? And it's not something I can make myself do. I doesn't happen every night. I can't make myself dream it. It just happens. And in PERFECT detail. My only complaint is that after I wake up it all starts fading away at an exponential rate. It's damn frustrating really because if I could just record it all it would be amazingly impressive.

I honestly believe I have a connection to another "me" in a parallel universe. Or perhaps that was me in a parallel universe in the past. Again it's really odd that it's all consistent. The same places and people will still be there and called the same things. And if they die, they are dead and I do not see them again.

    Well, okay:

    Stuff i remember:

    Flying/levitating (JUST FREAKING AWESOME)

Falling into lava, becoming some kind of golem and then defending some strange/giant door with my super powers gained from the lava (yeah sounds strange)

Climbing up a tower, jumping down and repeating this several times, until I finally manage to fly ^^

    Sex and violence.

I think the worst thing about me is, that as soon as I realize that I am dreaming, evil surfaces. I can control my dream and it usually turns into some weird mix of shotting/beating people and half-forced rape (also mainly while flying). But there has never been blood. The fact, that I turn my dream into an orgy of violence/sex, because I dont have to fear consequences, lets me believe firmly into evilness of men.

Hmm, I also got nearly eaten by an alien once (those from the movie "Alien").

My dreams aren't really as crazy as some of yours, but they don't really make sense either.

Mostly they're just people I know talking to me or each other, in some ambiguous location that I can never be sure of. Sometimes they shout and yell, too. I either don't remember what they were saying when I wake up, or it was completely nonsensical(as in, "why would anyone speak those words in sequence?"). Often they're moving around, too, but hell if I know what they're doing. Weird lunges, jumps, pushing and shoving each other.

I gave up on trying to understand this crap a long time ago; I wake up confused a lot.

My dream was not as crazy as most of these. I dreamed I was back at college except all the buildings were way closer and I kept looking for my friend but running into other people and ending up in random people's rooms. (sounds like real college)

On a related note has anyone heard Daniel Tosh's bit on nightmares?

I dreamt that I became a girl (I am a guy) from my class (some new person who is crazy) and that I was doing what she would do. Then I dreamt that me as that girl kissed some other random guy in class. Then I felt like I could read her thoughts and I remember hearing these thoughts: "What the heck am I doing? I'm a guy!". Then I woke up to my alarm clock.

I swear it was like a movie except I could feel what "I" (as the girl) felt and could hear the thoughts perfectly, but I couldn't control it. Funny thing is, is that me and my friends were talking about what we would do if we became a girl that lunch time. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

I forgot how many times I've been eaten by T-Rex... which have been chasing me.... inside my house...

Another familiar dreams which are just downright creepy... A ghost pinned me on my bed. It happened so often that I'll just thought "Bug off", just wake up, only to fall asleep and have the same dream. Yes, a ghost... black frame, no face, two arms. The first time it happened, it scared me to hell, now I'm just used to it. I don't have these dreams any more though.

My dreams are usually filled with Sex or completly bizzare things, like my dad shoveling snow with a leaf blower at midnight and him going insane jumping around like crazy, or something of that sorts. I usually wake up to happy dreams, execpt that time where I dreamt of: I droped my books down the stairs and because of that I got suspended from school and never allowed to see my friends ever again.

PS: My dad is a 66 year old landscaper and I help him out sometimes, I even have a part-time job cutting grass/shoveling snow. I also really care about school.

Actually the only woman I've ever shared this with became my fiance. Back when we were just dating. When I first explained it I didn't even get to explain it all before she interrupted me with making out. And yes the sex was good. I can say that because we are no longer together. Ironic that somebody who starts out comming on to you after you are engaged and living together decides they don't care for sex anymore. Actually come to think of it... I had stopped thinking of Xzianthia when our relationship started to decay. (mostly because she completely controlled my life, forget playing NS, all spare time had to be spent with her or she'd get MEAN, as in say things that were really hurtful) But alas you cannot teach somebody to love.

My point is that your attempted insult is flat out wrong. I got laid the only time I ever shared Xzianthia with a girlfriend.

    <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Hmm. You know, I rarely ever dream about something that's not Xzianthia. On those rare occasions that are not connected to Xzianthia at all, yeah. But those are usually nightmares. Like having to watch terrorists behead my little sisters. That was a bad dream.

Hell, I wish I had a photographic memory, I could probably build a lot of the machines I've seen. Or at least if I could write down some of the complex mathematical algorithms for AI source code or draw some of engineered components and 3D blue prints I've seen. I may not understand it but if I could only capture it accurately I've tried writing and sketching things down before they evaporate from my memory. I have a huge file next to me in the drawer that my computer is sitting on with several pages of random bits and pieces of this world.

That's my point these dreams/connections of/to Xzianthia are FULLY interactive, detailed, and realistic. If I want to go over and read and interact with that diagnotic console I can. If I want to stop and randomly heal a wilting plant I can. That's where I'm told what I dream of is different. For most people dreams are like movies. You are watching or in it but you can't change what's happening. For me it's active. Oh and by the way Limarions are probably my favorite food. They kinda look like ultra-violet pears with red venation and have the texture of a pear when you bite into them, but they taste like french vanilla ice cream. Even more so I can tell you that they are apparently packed with anti-oxidants and while they may have a higher fat content than most fruit they are also like aloe vera but help your mana. But I've never heard anybody in the dream called it mana. They always call it "Xzia Energy" or "Chi" I called it mana once and got funny looks from the people I was talking to. You see mana is oatmeal essentially. So saying I've exhausted my oatmeal will get you funny looks. It now a running joke with Alyssia and others to ask me about my mana (oatmeal) running low.

Actually, there's magic spheres spells but you can send the energy at as many targets as you can focus on. It's often easier to cast something that is massive and does damage over time. Clever casters are also going to pay attention to their surroundings. See a barrel filled with oil that your enemies are hiding behind. Cast a thermokinetic increase spell at the barrel. The oil can burn them just fine after the initial fire. Or you can then "push" they oil in their direction. Kind of like a remote flame thrower. Fun stuff. The problem is you have to think fast because sometimes the enemies are packing guns. You can't cast very well if you get your brain scrambled by a bullet you know. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />
