Sure Samus suit looks kinda weird, and yes, the choreography was a blatant ripped off of movies. But damn, it's so nice.

The ending sucked... but the dance video was funny.
However, no shadows and omega-fail dance-off bring this down to a 4/5. Imagine how it would have looked with a couple shadows. Why leave that out?
That said it's very well done - I just don't like the premise <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> hilarious watching the elites dancing though
adding shadows would've meant like 300000 more hours of render time. I can't blame him - it's clearly an animation video not showing off rendering skills.

Which is funny, because the ending <i>does</i> have shadows...
... Why didn't I see it sooner!?

He ripped all those models from games, which means the shadows would be really easy to render. Heck, the actual games do it in real time.
Also, I can understand his decision to use the Burly Brawl music, as it IS an incredibly vital part of an action scene, but I just don't agree with it. As far as I'm concerned with Matrix Reloaded, the music from the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lnkj-SZ0EA" target="_blank">Chateau scene</a> was stupendously awesomer. Too bad it's only about 3 minutes long. =/
Edit: Also, Samus' suit made me cringe, having recently played Metroid Prime.

It doesn't matter where the models came from .. it still takes a long time to render scene shadowing. I'm not going to bother explaining why it doesn't work like that but as an example Pixar films can look really simple but a single frame can take 5 minutes to render or something insane like that.

Can we actually get a spoiler BBcode? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Yes, but that's because those movies use huge amount of polys per frame. This guy ripped models from a game that were already low poly enough to be rendered in real time. Skipping out on shadows was just ridiculous. He could have even used super simple ones, area shadows in 3dsmax will add no noticable amount of time unless you scene is in the hundreds of thousands of polys, which I can assure you wasn't the case.
Then poly count doesn't matter as much as scene complexity, and he had quite a few characters on screen.
I didn't really think about non-omni lighting cause it's ugly, and people would probably still say it looks unpolished.
Either way I don't really even care - it looks fine without shadows.

Me too, but he had a handy answer for that prepared in his FAQ!
<!--QuoteBegin-FAQ+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(FAQ)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Internet: Why didn't you use the Samus Suit from Metroid instead of the stoopider looking one from SSBM?
Me: Among the reverse engineering method existing for Nintendo games. It was more difficult (more or less impossible) to get a decent Metroid Prime Samus. I did on the other hand make several posts in a multitude of forums (something I hate doing) and got little or no response. I didn't want to be too bothersome to the great people behind the engineering methods. As a busy artist like everyone else, I respect their time. In the end you just end up working with what you've got.

Hmm... Apparently, in the future, the government straps you with bombs.

The Mjolnir armor system is powered by a mini fusion reactor on the back, which is what blew up.
Fun movie to watch, though I agree the unfinished look was sorta hard to watch.

<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
That made me giggle.
I was kinda hoping to see an end with the Master Chief chick saying 'I used to be a man' in an extremely deep voice, and the metroid chick going all WTHbbq.
It's not about action, it's the suggestive girl on girl action.
You guys all missed the point.

Think I've seen pictures to that extent...
Awesome movie, but as said, a bit over the top.
