Ideas and themes for maps

I'll update add new ideas to the list as they are posted:

1) Free-flowing architectural starport that has a lot of glass walls (thin sheets of curved glass maybe?) along with black interiors, comforts, and vehicles docked on the outside of it. Color themes could be black, white, and blue, along with varied complimentary/environmental colors.

2) A small autonomous mining station with stacks of ore on the outside. Autonomous machines are moving in most places and makes for a dangerous noisy environment. Color themes would be red, black, and blue, along with varied complimentary/enviromental colors.

Others' suggestions:

3) "I'd like to see a residential starbase with cafateria, recreational room, garden/hydroponics. Maybe a classroom or movie theater. Basically something other than an industrial setting."

    I'd like to see an entire level themed closely to biodome hive on NS_Origin. I know biological settings are generally harder to design but it might be worth trying to work one out to provide some real variability.

    I've been interested in some maps with the theme of cave diving. Journey to the center of the planet stuff. Lava, mushrooms, underground rivers, water falls, lakes, cliffs, bottomless pits

    A map whose theme is focused on fearing the vacuum and extreme cold of space. I really want to feel fear of having a map explode around me and flash freeze.

    A map themed around being under water or some other liquid. Sea weed, thermal vents, air locks, pressure, water leaks, rooms filling with scary water.

    Sewer and maintenance tunnels of a large city.

    Space ships, space stations, mining operations: civil and military and extra-terrestrial.

    Ancient ruins discovered in the crust of a planet or asteroid perhaps.

    What else might keep you indoors, sorta? I think I could have sworn I read in a developer blog or something they were looking to have no outdoor enviroments, possibly.

    I want a rainforest where it really is raining and skulk can climb through the trees. Perhaps, the TSA is torching the forest with flamethrowers and explosives, the aliens are trying to save it. It'd be a nice twist to see that the TSA is quiet heartless and evil at times and not just some poor, noble organization which is being attacked by the Kharaa for no reason.

    I like these suggestions. I can really imagine the sewer one, lots of pipes, water and cleaning facilities. Perhaps one of the rooms allow you to take a look up out on a few buildings from the city? I also liked the theme of ns_mineshaft, it was nice to see human construction mixed with rock cave walls.

    I, personally, think that a cityscape kind of like that of HL2 would be cool. Clearing buildings with skulks in them, etc? Hives in the town hall? Fun!
