<div class="IPBDescription">Looking for a PC monitor.</div>I've been interbutting from a laptop for the past year or so, so I have no idea what's out there on the market.. but I need help suggesting a flat panel PC monitor for my mom to buy, for my little sister. I left a gaming machine at home, and I'll probably just reformat it and it'll be a pretty strong home PC for her. The monitor, however, is gone.

So, what monitors are out there? I basically want to show her something
-decent sized
-very clear
-budget priced (I'd like to show her stuff under $500)

I'm sure some of you are quite experienced and/or personally own some of these monitors, so by all means, if you can, give me a personal review and a price quote from amazon or newegg.

Thank you!

Under $500 really isn't a problem. My SyncMaster 225BW is a widescreen that's suitable for gaming and it was $400, and my SnycMaster930B is nice and large and it's also gaming-quality and that was $400 a couple years ago. Your little sister doesn't need anything near that nice. Frankly even a crappy LCD is good enough for general home use as long as you don't buy something made out of bubble gum, duct tape, and 3 old Gameboy Colors.

Yeah, around 300 is probably the best for me to suggest to my mother.. But I don't want to have them buy a piece of crap, know what I mean? I especially hate those monitors that blur when viewed from the sides, if you know which ones I'm talking about..

Right, anything that's a notch above "looks like the monitor fell down a few times before you plugged it in" ought to work. You could just go to your local computer store and pick out a monitor that looks okay then order it online.

I got a sceptre 20" widescreen off newegg for pretty cheap, its pretty nice, and has awesome glossy screen/doesn't get retarded when viewing from angles.

Look for Viewing Angle 176°(H) / 176°(V), anything closest to 180 will be viewable properly from angles.
