2. I think emotes should definitely be in the game <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Agreed.
and...
Let's use some <u>different</u> emotes: <img src="http://www.nsmod.org/forums/style_emoticons/default/chair.gif" border="0" alt="IPB Image" /> <img src="http://www.nsmod.org/forums/style_emoticons/default/taz.gif" border="0" alt="IPB Image" /> <img src="http://www.nsmod.org/forums/style_emoticons/default/hairpull.gif" border="0" alt="IPB Image" /> <img src="http://www.nsmod.org/forums/style_emoticons/default/clapping.gif" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
I also think that if you kill more enemies as a marine, blood could show up on their face and armor...

As cool as that may be is some ways, in other ways its very gross. One of NS1's strengths is a lack of gore (aka gibs) and "green" blood when it comes to being less offensive than say ... GTA. Just something to keep in mind for whatever rating (Teen I thought I read) the developers are shooting for.
It would help imersion, say when you do a skulk chuckle - the skulks mouth could widen and turn into a huge evil grin - not to mention just the normal bite animation, rather than just a triangle moving up and down, the entire face could look like a dog or lion taking a powerfull bite.
Marines for yelling out commands - when you request a medpack the marine's face could squint painfully, or a smile when you finsh building a turret etc etc
but well done steam, valve and those working on TF2
Think about it, having those fades making agressive expresions while attacking, gazing while blinking, onos munching marines with devour, lots of cool animations while player is idle. And most important, any vocal sound followed by it's respective facial animation! I couldn't wait to see a skulk doing the chuckle sound hehehehehe... And there's room for sooooo many more uses of facial animation.
As for marines, same thing. Every spoken phrase with the corresponding animation, when shooting their guns (the longer they shoot, the more agressive they look), their faces expressing the pain depending of their HP, etc... Some ppl would say that's something not that important but i say that small details are what makes a game remarkable, after the gameplay. And if possible, should be optional so if it takes too much resources for your pc you can disable that feature.
Just my 2 cents :D
Facial expressions on skulks would be cool, but I'd add it as a skinpack later for $2.99 - for now I'd focus on core gameplay and fun level.

are you sure you don't work for bethesda?
I can just picture an ns2 trailer now - a slow zoomin for a close up of a marines face screaming for a med pack, then his expression slackens into a look of disbelief and terror as claws slash into frame, splatter red, fade to black - fade in ns2.
-Emotes
-Hand or body, or face movements to emotes, even all!
-Also i thought of a neat idea, when the commander talks, the aliens here a radio noise coming from a marines maybe, if they are close enough. Just a thought
This is not needed for core, but would make the game really cool. About the whole skinpack add-on. Price add-ons to games are uncool if it's enhancing the gameplay u already paid for. Would i pay YES! would i be happy, not sure, make me dislike them like wow and eq lol

So killing humans is ok as long as there's no blood? Logic? None of that kind of stuff makes sense. NS is an extremely violent game, aliens mutilating people with scythes, teeth, and horns? But it's ok as long as there's no blood? lol. If you can't handle violence maybe you shouldn't play violent games.

I'm not sure you understand abstraction. There is a curve in relation to images being human-like I remember that relates to just how repulsive or attractive we find a particular character - violence in games is much the same way. If properly abstract, then we don't find it as repulsive as say, real violence and gore. In terms of the game, images of violence are merely fancy indicators of a successful hit. We want to play a game, not throw up on it, right?

We'll not throw up over NS2. Do you throw up when you see a public execution video from Iraq? If you do, why? Don't compare reality to the virtual world.
You have to understand that this is just a game.

Who throws up in a game? I havent played a game yet that even made me cringe or look away. Theres more gore in todays dramas on TV then in games and looks 100x more real. Im all for gore that makes me more immersed in the game. Make it a option so the weak stomach people can play the game.
