I'm not sure what the that mod that almost every single NS server has is that gives out awards kinda like a game of worms, but a medal system for the same type of thing would be great. I want Umbra Freak Badge!
how about a ranking system that no1 except for servers and devs has access to. this would allow the servers to be balanced correctly and wouldnt encourage any1 to stat wh0re as they cant show any1 their achievments.
Also whilst K/D ratio isnt what ns is about and doesnt totally represent the importance and skill of the players i find from my own experience playing ns that if a team is full of people who can go 20-1 against a team of people who get 1-1 ratio the team with 20-1 players will win 95% of the time. Whilst if the teams are evenly balanced with "pro" players and "not so pro" players the games are generally evenly played out.
I think there's really one marine stat that throws entire games off. Hit percent. That's the % of bullets fired that hit an alien (or alien structure).
Everything else tends to even itself out. (Well, except comm ability, but that's much harder to measure.)
They're good because they let a player know how they're doing. That, and pros get a winner's high if they see themselves at the top of the scoreboard.
It's bad because those same pros might see themselves NOT at the top of the scoreboard. Then they become paranoid, and disconnect every time they think they might be killed, and come back then to do it again. I've seen it happen, even in unranked servers. I think that if servers want rankings, they should just do the work and enable it for themselves.
They can't in the way I'm suggesting. The point is to let admins know the true skill stack, and try to make it as 50/50 as possible. There's nothing wrong with an ego boost, but that isn't the goal in this proposal.

Comm ability is measured in games won vs games lost while factoring the balance of the teams throughout the game.
with that I'll first strike with my vote:
