<div class="IPBDescription">Looking for a way to lower the CPU use.</div> Hello,
I run a games servers hosting company.
When full, CS, TFC, DoD and other HL mods usually take 15 - 30% of a Pentium IV 2.4 Ghz or Athlon MP 2000+.
However, our NS servers are using 50 - 90% (depending on the map) of such CPUs with 14 players, with default configuration, with or without metamod and associated plugins.
I run these servers under FreeBSD (Linux emulation), which raises no particular problems with other servers (latency is even better).
Is there a known problem or some tips to make NS servers use as CPU ressources as CS servers please ?
To the coders : I think you should have a lot to this problem and quickly fix it, because the success of NS depends on the interest of the mod but also on the number of (good) servers available. Just try not to follow the example of Battlefield 1942 servers please !
Thank you in advance <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

For right now there is nothing you can do, short of renicing the server up so that it doesn't get as many available CPU as it'd like... but that would effectively kill the server.
