Well, I finally found 1 reason to buy a Playstation 3.

Yeah...it runs at full FPS, no slowdown, in THAT resolution.
Jebus. I could cry over that.

P.S.
That game rocks on my 50 inch Panasonic.
Wait one second here... You want a PS3 to play a PS2 game? Shadow of the Colossus? Dude, that is totally cost inneffective. You're gonna waste $600 dollars for one game that may or may not be backwards compatible yet? Seriously... Or did I miss something and is there a second Shadow of the Colossus coming out? The chances of a game like that getting under my radar are bleak.

It's obviously backwards compatible if the PS3 can run it man.
But, two of the biggest complaints against it was a pretty bad framerate at times, and no advanced visual settings except Progressive Scan.
PS3 fixes that.
And Tycho: Wanna show me how to run SoTC on PC?
Shadow of the Colossus is a beautiful game for the PS2. Among the best on it.

It's still not a reason to get it. I love the game, but I'm not spending $600+ to play it unless it's virtual reality.

Emulator... but you won't get it over 4 FPS.
& I don't remember the framerate ever getting that bad.
I wouldn't buy any console for just one game though... once you get to 3 I start considering it and the PS3 has so far managed a whopping zero on my personal game radar so far :/
Its...a lot more to me than it is to most. XD
yeah it looks worse on ps3 than on ps2. The textures aren't big enough to look good at those resolutions.

Not to mention that's not an actual shot of the finished product, that Colossus isn't even in the game.
I'm confused... did anyone else not find that image very impressive?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
i agree, the screenshot looked like crap imo
the green tree looking thing looked "ok"
but everything else looked crappish

Only it doesn't really work out that way. Not aware of a single multi-platform title yet that's actually stronger on the PS3. Live can't be beat for online games. Visually, you'd think they'd be able to push lots of high-res texture data (which is the big memory hog these days) what with Blu-Ray's size and all, but they don't have the texture bandwidth of the 360 so that space is a waste for anything other than brute force streaming (which duplicates content on the disc for quick seek and loading), sound data (mainly multiple localizations, which really is only convenient for the publisher since most people only play games in one language), and cinematics.
The exclusives really are the only reasons to get a PS3 on the games side if you don't feel like buying a 'cheap' blu-ray player, but so far those haven't really delivered. Ratchet will be the one that pushes us over the edge, and Naughty Dog's next plus an inevitable new Jak will kick ######... Sucker Punch has a new Sly on the way, too. Pretty much anything those three studios do is worth checking out. Though if you don't like platformers, you might be in trouble.

Haha, I giggled uncontrollably while watching that.
And, just thinking... Not that SoTC isn't super awesome, but aren't there bigger bosses in Painkiller?

No, PS3 european edition has software emulation, various other PS3 have PS2 chips.

But Quanaut does not live in Europe.
I heard PS3 EU only emulate PS2/1 games and with lower image quality. Might benefit US/JP PS3 users but still I wasn't really awestruck by that photo. Nor is it cost-effective unless of course, you plan to play alot of PS3 games <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

That was with the software before the latest firmware update. Its now upscaling things to at least 720 if you've got the TV for it.

In player vs boss scale, no, but just by a bit. Serious Sam has some seriously humongus bosses though.
