I understand that most game play suggestions are ignored so I won't go there <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
I have spent a great deal of time on this so please take your time to read it and give some serious feed backs.

Marines are highly trained elite soldiers. Let's start with looks. Equip them with a small backpack and belt pouches, we are talking about a marine, some one who carries a crap load of equipments. Scrap the robot cop helmet design, give it a real military puncho and strap it with a motion sensor once MT is upgraded.
Now, let's change the way they move. I understand that the marines in NS1 move like tards due to the crappy HL1 engine. Marines are elite, the way they move should demonstrate exactly that. The way they duck, they way they reload, they way they maneuver while carrying their firearms.
Take these pics for example, here we see modern marines, just tech them up <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

I recently watched a demo of Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 and I saw the UI of it and was really impressed. I think it has the perfect interface for the marine players.
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIQ5er9n-SQ" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIQ5er9n-SQ</a>
Watch the footage and imagine if this was NS2. Just imagine if a mini screen pops up when ever your teammates/commander are broadcasting a vital radio message across the channel and imagine the UI locking onto the aliens through motion tracking.
<!--coloro:#000099--><span style="color:#000099"><!--/coloro--><!--sizeo:4--><span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->* A more realistic and dynamic radio system<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec--><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->
Make the marines sound "real". We are talking about a squad of elite commandos, would they honestly say something like "hey! i need some ammo over here!" to their commander? Make them sound like real soldiers, something along the line of "Requesting Ammo, commander. I'm all out".
Make the marines automatically say things across the radio according to the situation and the surroundings. For example, if the marines make no progress taking down the alien hive, the marines would say "commander, we are encountering heavy alien resistance, requesting siege support." or if multiple marines get killed at the same time then the marine should say something like "we are getting slaughtered! Get us the f**k out of here!!!" or if a group of marines venture into a hive zone that's not yet taken, they'd say something like "Commander, no alien presence detected here @ cargo transport, ready to set up base of fire." (as in lock down hive)
Give the marine hand signals. Like pressing down on their ears each time they send or receive a radio message, give out a specific hand signal when covering fire/requesting weld/follow target etc etc.
<!--coloro:#000099--><span style="color:#000099"><!--/coloro--><!--sizeo:4--><span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->* The structures<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec--><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->
I wasn't particularly impressed with the NS marine structures. Take the TF for example, here we have a computer that operates the turrets and yet the TF looks like/is a hydraulic pump, why in hell would you have a water pump remote controlling digital equipments?
The IP is rather odd too. It uses the same technology as the PG and yet it doesnt produce any glow or whine.
In other words, put more sense into the structures.
<!--sizeo:7--><span style="font-size:36pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->For the Aliens<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->
I won't go too much into the aliens since I think they are pretty good atm but I do have some suggestions.
<!--coloro:#000099--><span style="color:#000099"><!--/coloro--><!--sizeo:4--><span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->* A complete new art direction<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec--><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->
The very look and sound of the aliens should make the marine players cower in fear but instead we have movie monsters in NS1, they don't have any of that "sci-fi horror" look AT ALL. They look like Japanese Godzilla, Rodan and Gamra costumes. I mean look @ the gorge, just because it's a drone doesn't mean it has to be stocky and screech like a rooster.
Take a look @ Fox's Alien Drone

<!--sizeo:7--><span style="font-size:36pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->Maps<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->
I have 2 suggestions for the maps. One is the resource nodes, it doesn't make any sense to power everything indoor with "gas". I mean come on, you really gonna sit back and watch toxic gas get released into the air? Resource nodes should be electricity, power points to be exact. In half life 2 during the intro, right before Alex was teleported, the doctor asked Gordon to plug the power cord into the power point so why can't we do the same in NS2?
Don't paint the map with textures that make no sense. I have seen many doors/gates in NS maps that don't open, and when I look them up on the mini map all I see is a half meter thick wall behind it and on the other side of the wall is the corridor.
I have spent a great deal of time on this so please take your time to read it and give some serious feed backs.

Combat destroy the most feeling, so thats enough <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":angry:" border="0" alt="mad-fix.gif" />
The Interface like you want from G.R.A.W. (clone number 3856484)
looks very ugly...not passed for NS...
I think all of your "suggestions" are clones of other games there have no share with NS Gameplay or universe...
Play "soldier of fortune" (elite...bull######)
Go play G.R.A.W. 2 (ugly interface)
Play AvP 2... sorry but your suggestions are not good
hell no!
Not a cs/dod/BF or what every clone...NO!

I'm not sure what you mean by that? I don't play combat, cs, dod or BF. I play classic NS and world of warcraft. My suggestions have nothing to do with co mode at all <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" /> and half of them directly involve the commander in NS mode??? and again non of them suggestions have anything to do with game play so I don't know how you got combat mode involved <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />
Oh YEAR and the aliens kill you, because they hear your voice... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/nerd-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::nerdy::" border="0" alt="nerd-fix.gif" />
I only want to say, that the marines are cool and your examples are not the best for Marines there act in the universe...

they only say those things when they are constantly engaged in combat near the hive, so the alien already know they're there. so its all up to how the developers code the game:
hive zone check, engaged in combat for more than 2 minutes? yes. is the hive below 50% hp? No. select random marine engaged @ the hive zone and broadcast message A/B/C
it's pretty easy programing, you'll know if u did programing @ college. anyway, have a <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pudgy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::gorge::" border="0" alt="pudgy.gif" /> son
i wouldn't want the aliens to look like they are from aliens or avp - too cliche.
Also you might not find the aliens scary/horror looking, but i know many people do - especially the under 15 audience. I've seen them jump every time an onos comes out and get nervous when they are parasited. Sure hl2 is a +15 game (i think) but ns2 wants to capture a large audience so it won't have much graphic violence/gore or horror.
Remind Half-life1 use the very old quake engine, so you have a big limit and for that NS1 looks awesome.
But you can't use thousands of polygones.
btw i did a search on all the posts you made, most are trolling and some are pointless. sorry, muted.
First of all, no offense, but the comm ideas aren't great for NS. Who knows, maybe the military is more casual in the future? In any case, the stuff you suggested was a bit...wordy. That, and if you want "siege support", use the microphone.
As for the interface, etc., I personally prefer the look of NS1. Many of the things you have suggested here are simply contradictory changes to put in stuff from other games. Personally, I think many people would be sad if the almost humorous marine walk was taken out.
In the future, I'm sure that backpacks and visible changes are so old-fashioned. After all, we have devices now that are ridiculously small and can do more stuff than an old PC.
I want to see YOU make a marine structure in a rendering program. I certainly can't.
How would aliens use electricity? A power node would fry the current RT. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
The interface of Natural-Selection is fine. Health, armor, ammo, mini map, team resources/commander/hives. We see what we need to see. HUD displays such as motion tracking or scent of fear are not overly distracting and assist when needed.
Hand signals are not needed - we can talk over a mic, and, to be honest, if you cannot I still don't see any message that needs to be gotten across with a hand signal.
Automatic radio call outs are a bad idea because stealth is sometimes a prime factor in Natural-Selection when it comes to taking out a hive with ninja phase gates. The commander does not need updates via automated audio cues, as he will most likely already be watching hives being taken down. Random gibberish when a player is getting taken down gets old and repetitive (see Rainbow Six Vegas - cool the first time, incredibly annoying and predictable the next). RTs being called for is already in the game, and rightfully this is triggered by the player himself.
Structures - what sense do you want them to make? Phase gates <i>teleport</i> people. IPs spawn new players in. Who's to say what glows and what does not? Who's to say a turret factory is not an advanced computer that sends out electromagnetic wave signals to the turrets to control them - why can't it have the 'pumps' on the sides, why does it need an on screen indicator of anything? This is a fictional world, and when it comes to structure appearance little 'sense' can be applied to their construction.
Maps are created 100% by third party players and the development team cannot control what texture makes sense and what does not. But for the most part, all textures 'make sense.' Also, RT points look sexy with white 'gas' coming out of them. I like them.
and i think ur dead right about the uniforms, they need to look like trained to kill military but u wouldnt see waypoints and motion tracking with ur naked eye(thats y they had the robocop helmet) i rekon they should have a lense covering 1 eye that is attached to either their helmet or their earpeice.

As for marines not having that supersoldier feel? Being able to shoot the pistol dead on into a vent while jumping 3 times in a row sounds pretty sick to me, everything else... not so much. Give them gadgets I say! Balance it with cost and alien counterparts of course. Examples? Sure:
Sensor - Slap it on a wall and give the commander vision (as well as display it on the minimap) of an area.
Relocator - Should be extremely expensive, like 40 res per unit after some more research cost, should let a marine teleport (terminator style, without clothes) to anywhere on the map.
- HEY THIS WILL RIG THE GAME!
- No it won't, not at all, ninjaing can get its own tech tree.
Ratehacking Device - Alternates your rates between really high and really low, makes you as good as tal, except as a marine...
