Seriously, porting this to PC was the best idea ever. So, who else has purchased/become addicted to it? My current high-score is only 221k, those stupid purple boxes get me every time.

Totally can't figure out how to make it do keyboard commands.

Press ESC
then
options
controls
then set dual analog to keyboard
Geometry Wars though...its just so much smoother, faster, and in general requires more strategy. The enemies in Grid Wars are similar, but no where near as fast in movement, and the most annoying enemy, the green boxes, aren't even hard, in Grid Wars.

Quanaut, I thought you have a 360? Can't you just use that controller?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I don't have that thingy to get it to hook up to my PC. Its a wireless controller, anyhow.
Said thingy: <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360wirelessgamingreceiver/" target="_blank">http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox3...gamingreceiver/</a>
I really oughta get one though. I mean, if I'm gonna get that 360 Racing Wheel...

So I'm guessing you've never played Geometry Wars? Grid Wars is a poor substitute for the real thing.
Is this the same as the one released on the Windows Marketplace, ie. no online leaderboards? If so, fail game is faaaaaaaaaiiiiiillllllll.

Aren't 360 controllers just USB?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Not the wireless ones.
Edit: My current high score is 328K.
Does anybody know of any other awesome PC shooters? This brings back playing Ikaruga until 5AM in the morning. I want that again.
Second try, I made it to 150k+ points before dying.
I died once because I got cornered/surrounded or so and didn't want to "waste a bomb".
Second time I died, I died while trying to get a power up.
Third time, ran out of bombs and was cornered. An extra bomb powerup was close too.
Third and Fourth time I played - I died randomly from enemies that spawned near me. I never got past 70k points.
Though again, it has nice visuals and music which probably will get me to keep playing sometime.
Geometry Wars is much more polished and more difficult, although I wish they incorporated Grid Wars' black hole scoring system.
I don't have a credit card so tried to pirate Geometry Wars and it crashes every time I start it, so it looks like I need SSE for it, which means I'll buy it with my new PC.

Are you sure it was "cracked" for XP? The one from Windows Marketplace is supposed to be exclusive to Vista.
The Steam version runs on XP so that's what you'll want to get, not the one from the Windows Marketplace.
Testament, just have a friend with a credit card buy it and pay them back.

I can't run it if it requires SSE. Which my processor doesn't have cuz it's so old.
That or it was just saying that because you downloaded some weirdo cracked copy hacked together by some 8 year old in Hong Kong while he was hopped up on PCP.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I'd wager more on SSE. I couldn't run Plasma Pong either 'cuz of it.
gridwars.bmx seems like it has a lot of the settings.
