    Not really. If you're on the other side they're a terrorist or a guerilla or something, not a freedom fighter, so there's no problem with the definition.

    But if you reduce it to a title. A freedom fighter is anyone that calls themselves a freedom fighter.

    Also, what about a freedom fighter on the side of a dictator, fighting for the freedom to opress.
