Yeah, I just got a response on their official forums:
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->1) You have to be directly behind the wall
2) It IS directional. If the enemy flanks you, you wont get the cover bonus. The only exception is things like craters and such that offer 360 degree cover.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Everything in this game is very literal. This is very few things in this game where you go "But that's because it's a game." Cover applies when it's in between you and bullets. Common sense. Just as wooden buildings are better than brick or stone. I did NOT think about that, because I was thinking, "Building. One cover type." and that the texture was just that - a texture. Not an indicator.

The only good thing about the rangers is that they have better anti-tank possibilities. Edit: well, better than the recoilless rifle the other allied troops have, I think the rangers bazooka is only as good as the panzerfaust.
I'd say the all-around best infantryunit would be the airtroops or whatever they're called, especially for 1 thing, they can be reinforced anywhere.

Rangers tear the crap out of infantry when you equip them with thompson submachine guns. Not only that, but with fireup they are exellent for flanking troops. They excel against infantry and light armor vehicles, and can assist with tanks as long as they are supported.
They aren't useless. They're incredibly awesome and badass. Just because they don't dominate tanks doesn't make them useless. They also cost twice as less to reinforce than airborne, and take down infantry better than airborne.
Damn i wish my comp would run this game decently <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> it's really awesome.. and when they make DoW2 with the new engine here, dear lord *drool*
CoH scales down pretty well. Right now on my new computer I run everything on high, but on my Pentium 4 2.6GHz / Radeon 9600 machine, I was able to play with no trouble at all. Had to turn down the settings, sure, but the game ran fine.

Okay, so I finally bought this(Yeah I know I'm late to the party), and I really regret not buying it sooner. I played the SP demo, loved it. Was in the MP beta, loved it, but thought tanks were overpowered.
Goshdarn, the campaign is fun. Vierville ambush > nearly every RTS level ever.
Talk about late, the expansion just came out. The single player is fun, yeah, but the MP is totally where it's at. Even though I don't own OF it's fun trying out new strategies against the two new armies.

Yeah, soon as I beat the SP Campaign, I'll probably get in 10 or 15 MP matches under my belt, then buy the expansion. I'm just havin' a ######in' blast with this thing.
Fact: When there is a convoy, all that is needed to stop it is to stop the first one. They'll all crash into each other after that, and that is perfectly acceptable.

Very cool game.
