because of my video card...
So yea, my desktop won't boot up, it won't even beep. I have a GeForce 6800 GT, and when I take that out and put in my old Radeon 9000, the computer boots up. It makes me sad.

Someone please tell me my GeForce is not dead, and can be resurrected.

that wasn't in my contract - I am simply hired to be extremely optimistic.

The advice of someone who has no idea what they are talking about:

First stupid thing I would do is check to make sure that you didn't snap a little peice off the card while adjusting it. A similar thing happened with my 9800xt, I took it out to clean the fan and this small component the size of a transistor, but what was essentially a bit of coiled wire on plastic, came off. So.. I had it soldered back on and to my surprise the card has been working for 2 years since.

That's most likely not the case here, so I wonder if you had any power surges lately/ if you installed other new components that might cause your PSU to do a blitz on your computer.

Is there some sort of unaccessible heat sink that is clogged with dust/maybe shorted the GPU?

    new drivers/ programs...

Essentially what changed between it working and not working?

It's dead. Bury it (or scatter ashes), mourn it, move on.

Make sure your power supply is big enough, change some bios settings before putting the card in to ensure its set right, check the board for burns, cracks, or missing parts, all else fails exchange it for another video card

May sound silly but, did you connect any extra power connectors?

Yea try re-arranging your power connectors, i had a weird problem once when i changed video cards to one that didn't need a power input from the power supply and my hard drives stopped working.

I'll have to try that, I did disconnect a few things from the PSU, and I have not tried using a different power connector yet, I'll do that when I get home.

Meh... I have tried disconnecting all but one of my hard drives and the video card from the PSU and still no boot. Even tried my half fried Radeon 9800 XT that uses external power, and it boots just fine (Note that it looks terrible, as it is fried, but it boots)
