Automatic voice level

<div class="IPBDescription">for voice comms</div>Nothing more annoying than having a quiet comm, so you turn up your speakers / voice comm volume in the options menu, only for Jimmy "this game is so intense I need to Shout" Smith comes along and makes you deaf.

So was hoping for a setting which will determine the maximum volume - and why not minimum as well that way you always get everyones voice comms at the same level.

this is probably more a steam/valve thing though isnt it .

well, some sort of automatic client side level adjusting could be enabled. It would take samples each person's voicecomm and find the average output then amplify or dull to a certain chosen level.

How about some automatic pitch control? So that the screamers can grow some E-hair on the inside of their throats.

i'm pretty sure you can get 3rd party programs to already alter pitch in real time <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> - just need a decent sound card.

Me and a friend noticed Google Talk does this very well.
