PS3 Might Be Good For More That Just Folding@Home
Man, have you guys seen Little Big Planet lately? Here's the latest video from E3, although it's actually accompanied by 2 more videos availalbe at the Gametrailers page, plus all the older media from GDC and stuff. I've been following it since GDC; man, it's slick looking. Sure, it doesn't do aw hole lot that hsan't been doable before, but it makes it a thousand times easier for the average person to make, and it's all seamless, and the graphics are awesome, and there are cute little guys with zippers and buttons and everything. Just like I'm going to have to live at a friend's house where I can find a Wii if they ever make a good lightsaber game, I'm going to have to make freinds with some rich people if this thing turns out to be as good as it looks. Certainly looks like a fun way to spend an hour or two; like Garry's mod, only more user-friendly and cutesy. Less Alyx on her knees, etc.
Ooh, there's also some E3 walkthroughs on the bottom of the main video page I linked to. Good stuff!

I was considering the wii for the longest time but I don't know how many games for it I would like that weren't PC games. I also don't know if I would be better of with a 360 or PS3.. so I just didn't buy anything and i'm probably just going to get a nicer computer soon.
This game looks awesome though - would certainly be a +1 for buying a wii.
you really don't have to act so anal all the time you know. It's pretty tiring...
As it is I'm sure it will be very popular, and it's very creative and all but I really don't find these games very captivating at all. All this "let the gamer create their own levels, their own experiences" stuff is fine if you're into it but personally if I want a story I buy a good book, I don't write one; and if I want to play badminton I buy two rackets and a few shuttlecocks, I don't try to make them myself. I can't see this holding my attention for that long at all, I really don't get enthused by the 'throwaway gaming' vibe.

I don't get what the hype is about this game, looks fun but that's about it.

yeah I don't get the hype either. just like castle crashers. look like fun little cel-shaded games but not really world-stopping.

Ah, but can you create a level in real time in Castle Crashers with your friends? Can you customize your cutesy little doll with all manner of accessories in real time in Castle Crashers with your friends? Can you mess around with physics like in Garry's Mod in Castle Crashers (with friends)? Plus, it's not cel-shaded.

The game had a spiritual predecessor, "Go throw around the garbage in the front yard you damn kids, tell your mom to stop crying!!"

Creating levels and characters in real-time isn't what I desire in a game. The game's been advertised as a neat little sandbox game, which gets boring. Luckily they are throwing in some enemies.
Oh and physics in a 2D? Oh man, don't tease me.

Two words: Bubble Bobble.
Sometimes simple can be better.

I don't think you quite understand what 2d means. Little Big Planet is 100% 3d. It's a sidescroller but it has a z-axis as much as Half-Life does.
I'm definately excited to get my hands on this game, though until I get a better job I am loath to spend £500 on a Playstation 3 for it. Still, anyone who has seen the GDC interviews and footage from this company will know that there is a real creative and fun passion at work on this game.
