AUS NS NEEDS A REVIVAL

DGFDGF Join Date: 2003-11-11 Member: 22502Members
Its been ages since i played NS i kinda quit when the australian NS community started to die off. i still don't know why it died (probably because of WoW), its been no fun since it died i just hope somone revives it soon. i mean hell we had a pretty damn big community and for it to just disappear and noone to care kinda sucks. anyway thats my 2 cents.

There was a few problems poor old Oz had to deal with. The first one was a severe lack of servers I believe at the height of NS there was a total of 2. I can't say it caused a problem for sure but I doubt it helped! The second contributing factor is most of your internet traffic is internal. I used to get a whopping 400ms ping when I played down your neck of the woods and Oz gamers used to get the same to the US. Perhaps it's different now and the latency issues are better?

We had plenty of servers. Australia just had a smaller community than other regions (which can only be expected) so it evaporated quicker. The high ping to international servers and time difference doesn't help either, keen players weren't really able to play abroad once there was little left. The nsplayer.net site is still up, as is irc, as a somewhat loose contact point for what's left of the community despite the lack of ns playing.

Omg aus ns had about 24-30 servers in its day, one of the bigest things contributing was the forum black out in the start of summer 05.
hum i remeber about 50 regular clans, and about 8 that really stuck out.

It will most likely repopulate, i think the worst part was about 4 servers droped off the list a week before the forums came back online.

the best part is we now have two customx servers, sambros has just opened up, mouse needs to get his pumping again, was it the spoon or the gold fish or some such up in queensland.

we seen internode sheed their servers, two weeks before forums came back up.

Interner australis is all custom now no admins tho if ya play their frequent their forums something will happen.

we also seen Game arena drop from 5 Co servers 3 normals and two classics, too 2 classics, 1 normal 2 CO.

then finaly ta 2 classics, which personaly i think the servers are berried in a warehouse some where on the bottom of 30 other computers, and these two computer dont happen to have remote access or some such.

I belive there is sit one or two NZ servers up and running.

these servers populate very quike, but i must say to me its water off a ducks back, but i honoustly know there are a few bad seeds in the aus ns community right now, now they my be jokeing with in there close circle of friends but some gamers arnt as testostaron hard shelled mother ######ers, and I honoustly think this can hurt a community as small as ours is right now.

besides it gets so bad its almost common knowelege with in the community that these guys must just be asses, how ever it does taste all the sweeter when you happen to kill one.

Its going to be hard to revamp the aus ns player and base number of servers.
unmodreted servers like GA get idiots doing stupid stuff liek building into the walls, servers like custom factor have to many game breaking mods and omg 50 lvls of CO, gg x menu. sambros isnt tobad, but hes getting a few mods that break it, xmenu being one of them.

what happened to mouses queensland server the gold fish wasnt it?

i might have a chat with the IA boys that server has was to many mods on it, i am sure i can get them taken off and get it moderated.

Please do, the only way I can play a decent game of NS now is by going to a US server and put up with 170+ ping. Nothings more frustrating than having lag in a fire fight.

Hey me and sd created a steam community which is trying to organize more Australian pugs http://steamcommunity.com/groups/ANSP however during creation it was made private by accident. But just grab an invite from someone, we already have 114 members so thats most of the people in Australia that still play. Its working out well since it was only created 2 weeks ago. We have been pugging every sun night from 7pm and so far the turnout has been great.

you don't need an invite. the pugs are run by nsp, nothing to do with the group. sunday 7pm est #nsp-pug on gamesurge. if there aren't any other good vanilla servers around i'll try to open up our server(s) we have for public play - i may need to be reminded to unlock them though.

i've fixed up the nsp servers if anyone wants to use them for vanilla ns. The 2nd one should remain unlocked.

    That is so wrong.
It is largly due to stat ######s with no brains using aim-bots. There still around, but I have a feeling when NS2 comes out everyone will see them for the *happy panda* n00bs they really are.
