I downloaded the Natural Selection install file and when I run it an error pops up saying:
Setup has not detected a valid Steam install. Do you wish to continue?
I already have Steam installed with many games. I have tried simply running the install for NS regardless of the error, but Steam doesn't detect the game. I have tried installing NS to my SteamApps/STEAMID. folder, to my Half-life source/hl1 folder, but I cannot seem to get it to work. I have also tried moving the install to the Steam folder before running it, but still no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HL:S does not cut it as it isn't HL1
Buy your self a copy of HL, or install HL if you have the silver pack from HL2 or something.

Harsh but true.. you have to have a copy of Half life installed in your games, if you dont have it, you can add it quite easily to your account you dont need another account,
1. Log into your account and select Games
2. Scroll down to about half way and you will see Half-life ( It is $9.95 ) about 7 pounds
3. if you cant find it ! click on games top right hand side.
4 buy it while in that account.
5 Install NS to c:\program files\steam\steamapps\youraccount\half-life
6. Then come and Play on my server

Supposedly you can get it working with a copy of CS, but I have not seen any one manage in a very long time. (either that, or they get it working and never come back and share how to do it)
