i know its been suggested before but im thinking that with ns2 it might become more of a reality
Attacks:
Slash: uses a claw to swipe at the enemy
Charge: Kinda like the onos version, but only works underwater.
Bite: Bites the enemy and constantly drains adrenaline. Marine that is bitten is near helpless, and is stuck in the mouth of the leviathan until its adrenaline is gone. (drowns the marine, ideally.)
Capsize: (assuming marines have boats): If aimed properly, flips the marine boat and dumps the marines into the water, making them easy prey for the leviathan

but with this concept instead of what moving_target0 was thinking

please i want feedback for my idea

um?
Unless they made specialised maps for it, on research stations in the ocean, with heaps of water. like deep blue sea.
but it wont happen.
nice littel read tho <3
How's this for an idea, what if this creature could exist in other liquids too? Say lava or something?
This would require SO much more work by the NS2 team.
Itd basically require a whole new library of sounds, models, etc etc.
I don't think adding a water specific alien would be wise since it would change the game ALOT and take away from everything else. The developers have to look at what to add, upgrade, take away and consider. It sounds cool, but in the end it would take alot to add a new creature class [because they are water specific], and probably take complete adjustments for everyone else in the game, so it would be too much. The other thing to consider would be that maps would always have to "use water", just so this one alien would be "used" to its full potential. This would kinda hamper the map makers for the rest of the maps focus as well.
Now, I do think the idea of adding water/water combat would be rad. You could easily add areas with shallow water levels to add to the fighting elements. Water could be added to the game as an enhancment, and there could be sorta simple pros and cons to moving/fighting in it, but then how would this effect the overall game and would it be worth all the time they would have to put into it/take away from other parts of the game? No idea. I think adding water would be cool. It would be freaky to see a skulks "glowing red eyes" or a gorges tail moving through it, and would probably add some interesting changes to fighting such as movement and dynamics. Definitly look cool! I just don't know if adding more then simple shallow water areas [which usually go into some maps] would add enough to the game that they would create an entirely new alien just for it...
You know, I just thought of something... They could add these as simple pesky alien bugers on maps that are NOT "space stations". So say if a map is created based on the idea of an alien world, like a tropical glowing jungle or some ######. These little buggers could be small and swim in the waters where you walk/travel. So if the marines decide to walk a shorter route, they take the chance of being torn apart.
Another idea is to simply make them in 3D max or whatever program and add them to the game as a captured alien fish in some aquatic tank? Something like a map addition, and not an alien you have to fight in the game. Maybe also you could add them to a map where a bridge is, so if an alien or marine falls into the thick alien liquid where these guys live, they are torn apart unless they quickly swim out. *shrug* Still a cool concept for the game, but I don't see it as a new fighting creature since it's "water based".
Because its the only map with water really...
Although, i just suddenly had the idea. Who cares if this doesnt work on most maps?
You could just have it as an option on maps that DO have enough water to swim in.
So one alien could camp with it in the water, to keep the marines in fear of swimming through that part.
But then, NS is more or less based in space stations / ships? I dont see a place for water.
I still vote no.
Yeah, but i cant see it being water based. sorry.
and even if there were more maps with water, marines would never go into it because marines are NOW already f*cked as soon as they go swimming since they can not use their weaps and stuff down there. oh wait - you could fix that by giving the marines diver suits, harpoons and.. submarines!.... oh and i forgot something. marines will be able to build under water in ns2 - there will be huge protection cupolas on the buttom of the see protecting the buildings from the water. etc etc
and the lava-lifeform idea is even greater!! after waiting 30minutes with your uberpowered, total imba lava-lifeform (which only costs 90res!) in the lava, a marine eventually falls down, hits the lava, SURVIVES THE LAVA, so you now swim to him as fast as you can (!!) and finish him! woohoooooo!! what an action filled imagin
nice idea, keep it going!!!!

... Anything that is a liquid, toss this guy in. And who said it can't also function out of the liquid? Maybe its not the strongest, but that is its "adapted" enviroment. Kind of like a Lerk, a lerk is adapted for gaseous enviroments (air is made up of gases), which everyone knows that a lerk who is moving along the ground is not as dangerous as a flying lerk. Why not have this creature similar, still dangerous out of liquid, but very much deadly in the liquid enviroment.
Aaand ns_altair probably has the most water.. ns_tanith has some in double..
First of all, we don't know what NS2 will be like! Who knows? There might be a lot of water in maps, marines might have boats, and heck, there might be marines with specialized suits for underwater combat. The main point of this idea, however, was to come up with an underwater alien in the original thread. My purpose was to create something that would make marines think twice before entering a large body of water, assuming they're in NS2. I just thought it would be fun to have a streamlined, water-based killer that marines could shoot down from the boats, but on the flip side, the hunters could be the hunted...Kinda like hunting a giant shark with an attitude. Besides, it would be awesome to see the head of one of these things pop out of the water, then dive down with a marine in its jaws. Or perhaps get that adrenaline rush when you realize that the boat is about to be flipped, and you're going to be a nice meal.
