What do they even need that for? In case an attack helicopter comes after the prez?

You do not ###### with the presidential motorcade. For every vehicle carrying someone there's probably two identical vehicles full of heavily armed soldiers, a mini-gun, or even surface-to-air missiles.

wonder what defensive systems the popemobile carries...

Oh and what is scary about that minigun: every little yellow piece of brass you see falling out the front going down the windshield like a waterfall is about $5 a piece of our tax payer money <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

I want to see the Minigun ruin something at least, I know it can fire.

yeah that's what I was thinking. what's the point of looking at a big gun if you don't see it blow anything up?

Stakes and holy water. Well, AND the pope's powered armour, but that's only for dire emergencies when conventional holiness is not enough and you need the POPINATOR.

oO What do these beasts fire?
The standard Nato 5.56x45 DK is 60 cent a piece (euro cent). Please note that those 60cent are the actual costs of firing such a bullet in the german army. So the price of the bullet is way lower.

So what the hell do these things fire if it is supposed to cost $5 a bullet?

I dunno, its mounted and our military is known to use .50 or 30mm on anything mounted.

I believe that 30mm shells are somewhat more expensive than fifty cal.

The casings looked a little small for .50 and way too small for 30mm. Mage thinks 7.62.

Also, the elevation of the weapon combined with the Denali's already high center of gravity would cause 30mm to be impractical because of the whole "torque from the recoil means we're upside down now" detail.

This is a REALLY entertaining image in my head. Heheheh.

Just have the gun do the full spin around, then you eliminate recoil with only minor drawbacks.
