Just another totally unneccesary chat program. But hey, it's NS development, who cares! Will there be a text version, afterwards?

For the only time in my life, I have a reason to install XFire. Afterwards, bye-bye XFire =D.

I'm pretty sure the chat is going to be text only. Also as part of this event Charlie and I are doing "day in the life" type blogs where we log every hour what we're up to, giving a little insight into the thrilling world of making games (although arguably our current situation is quite different than what goes on at most companies). I can give you a little sneak peek -- it's not that thrilling. But hopefully it's interesting!

Man, if you call XFire "just another totally unneccesary chat program" then you've never used it. That's like calling Steam "just another totally unneccesary download manager." Sure, it'll grab files for you, but it's so much more than that. In fact, XFire will grab files too <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

    Sweet.

Hopefully there will be a transcript.

Alright, I'll rephrase, "In my opinion, X-fire is just another, to me totally unneccesary chat program/game manager". I can tell you why, but this is not the place to do that.

I thought it would be audio, too, but reading the newspost again, that was just an assumption, it doesn't state what kind of chat it will be. Text is good, text has transcripts ^^

So since I wasn't one of "the Chosen" I'd like to know when/where the transcript will be posted.
  • WatchMakerWatchMaker Join Date: 2003-09-26 Member: 21233Members, Constellation
    It's already been posted.

Here's a nicer Word .doc version of the transcript (provided by xfire).

Ahah wow, that's definitely much nicer. Those XFire chaps are quite splendid, if I do say so myself.

I was getting near the end of the transcript (which is much easier to read in the word doc, as it had text wrap for me) and something Charlie commented on really caught my eye:

<b>"Not for a specific age group necessarily, but you definitely have to think about your target player. I am investigating use of "personas" in games now (Cooper Institute) that seems to hold a lot of promise as a methodology."</b>

I ran a search for this and I hope I found what he is refering to. Even if this isn't exactly it, it is a really interesting read:
