Respawning Eggs

Wouldn't it be cool for gorges to be able to lay eggs as an ability perhaps, then players could have the choice to spawn into that egg. Rather then spawning right away, maybe add an extra 5-10 seconds for the player to develop from a cell into a life form.

Opinions?

    I dont know...

maybe this could be tied in with dynamic infestation?

gorges can only produce eggs on DI.

    otherwise itd be too good.
(under the assumption this means while a player is born from an egg, another may be born from the hive)

Cool idea. The aliens have always been about quick reinforcements and this would be a good way to further that. A animation a la being digested for traveling through the infestation would be nifty too.

I'm beginning to notice a pattern in your ideas there. Bit of a DI fetish? >.>

I don't think I want to see a gorge laying eggs. Pretty sure I'd have to give up omelets. The hive seems to be the mother figure of kharaa. Gorges are more like worker bees.

This doesn't really change anything. If I were spawn camping a hive and players were popping out as eggs that turned into skulks, I'd just wait for the gestation to finish.

I think the idea is that you don't spawn at the hive, you spawn where the gorge is. In that way it would eliminate spawn camping.

Maybe instead of having it tied to gorges it would be a map dependent kind of thing, like a sub-hive. Your team gets a small increase in respawn rate and you spawn at one of two locations(maybe you get to choose.)

    NO.

but srsly, i just think growing aliens in marine start isnt too fair.

maybe a good idea would be to have gorges build advanced battle mechs with laz0r cannonz?

The way i saw it was a gorge could lay an egg (maybe one egg every few minutes), but until a player spawns into it the egg lays idle. 10,15,20 minutes could go by without someone spawning into the egg. Also thats why a time limit should be set on it as well, something like 10 seconds, that way a person can't die and re spawn right away at MS and thus giving marines a chance to destroy it.

sweet!! you can lay eggs in NS2. This is taken from the about NS2 page:

"evolve special abilities, lay eggs and plant traps."

    Good stuff <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

I like this idea <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> Picturing a gorge laying a buncha eggs in a tight room making it look like a nest, really cool idea. And it just increases the dynamic-ness of the maps. PLUS it gives Marines more stuff to blow up/burn/knife/etc.
