Natural Selection Concept Art

<div class="IPBDescription">Awesome</div>Okay, so i was just looking at the NS1 concept and fan art.

It was actually really enjoyable, i suggest you all go and do the same :].

Anyway, i stumbled upon this picture, which, to an extent, reflected something different id like to see in NS2.

<img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q190/jozsa/cute-ns-kylie-beforeitbegan.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

I think it'd be cool if some of the maps/battles were based on earth, or other planets.

If done well, it could be really cool - but on that note, i cant imagine a forest being done well on Source.

Im more so implying cities in ruin, etc etc. Or even an underground carpark, which happen to be nesting some hives.

If the map was to be done outdoors, i know what youre thinking, lerks etc would be limited in height, or be able to go too high - just make the roof REALLY high, which would basically render the lerk useless. Any give projectiles maximum distances.

I know, this isnt a very realistic concept.
Or even a very good idea, i just think itd be so cool to see something a little different in a map or two.

I may even invest in mapping one :]!

    From the NS2 FAQ, <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/faq/#faq-511" target="_blank">HERE</a>:
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Will there be any outdoor environments?

We'll probably be saving any significant outdoor stuff for a future expansion or game so that we have the time and resources to do it right.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

This has been discussed quite a bit and despite the soft wording of the FAQ it has been mentioned several times by devs that outdoor environments would require more time/resources than they want to put towards it for NS2.

HOWEVER, It would be neat to see underground environments like mineshaft, or colonies on inhospitable worlds, or other enclosed residential areas like you mentioned. Some diversity in maps would be welcome.

I really enjoy the concept art as well, alot of the inspiration for any gameplay ideas I have seem to come from viewing those and imagining running through them as either Kharaa or TSA.

I agree, some busted out civilian enviroments would be very fun to play, I know I enjoyed them alot in NS2 single player.

Yeah, I did mean Half Life 2. Sometimes I get Acronyms messed up, they can be really quick to type, no what I mean?

I'm planning a map that's half in a ship crash, half in an alien infested cavern. Thankfully source allows for some good terrain mapping techniques.
