<div class="IPBDescription">Half Life program not recognizing ns mod in Custom Game</div>I'm an old skool player. I remember the gorges first 4th lvl weapon which was babblers for those who are curious. I just got NS on this new computer, and for some reason the Half Life program is not recognizing the mod even though I put the folder(ns) under Sierra. Can someone help?

You'll need to install Steam and register your copy of HL with that. I think most of the instructions are here.

You own the CD, or did you download HL1 from Steam? The instructions on the main page are for people who buy HalfLife through Steam, but don't offer any help for the rest who own the game from a retail store. If you own the game from a retail store, I recently found out that you don't need to install it from the CD. Just download it directly from Steam, then when it asks you to register the game, enter the CD key! And when you reinstall Steam on your next desktop it is already attached to your Steam ID. [this is the third time I had to reinstall Steam, and when I did it auto downloaded HL1 for me and I did not have to register anything because I already did a long time ago!]

I did install steam, but unfortunately I don't remember my password and account name for it. Apparently when I tried to input my cd-key to register the product, it said that the key was already being used. That would have been about 4 years ago. I have no clue what to do except to buy HL2 and register it on steam and play NS 2. Still upsets me, because I thought 1.04 was the best version of NS. I did play 2.0 and the updates for it for a few months. I don't have my receipt, but you are right that I purchased it from a store. Is there any way steam can delete my old account and get a new one without having the receipt?

Ignore last quote. I entered the key from blue shift and it allowed me to download hl through it. I'm moments away from enjoying the best 3d shoot/strat game ever. Thanks for the help.

I will also point out that if you have forgotten your PW for Steam, contact STEAM, they kinda are there for things like that......
