I thought this thing was only confined to my nightmares. It seems to have escaped and manifested itself in real life. Im horrified.
I want to get one, and make it grow to the size of a small car. I will then ride it around. Good idea [y/n]?

At least, I suppose, it's quicker than them cracking through your ribcage.
But if the "coconut" bit is misleading, and these actually are good for nothing except the overthrow of humanity, well...

X_Stickman might remember this... I think he's the guy I collaborated with on it.

QUOTE

Recent deep sea excavations off the coast of Antarctica have been met with strange movements from ocean floor. A further investigation by an Unmanned-Extreme-Depth Submarine has discovered a very large chasm, approximately one quarter of a mile wide, that descended into the Earth at a 48 degree angle. The chasm appeared to lead under the Antarctic continent, but that could not be verified at the time due to the lack of light. The UDE Submarine was later steered into the chasm for further investigation, but communication with it was lost shortly after passing through the mouth. No further attempts to enter the chasm have been attempted.
Approximately one month after the discovery of the cavern, a number of cargo ships were mysteriously lost in the southern Atlantic Ocean. None of the ships or their, crew, or cargo were ever found or recovered.
64 days after the loss of the UDE Submarine, the US Airforce lost contact with one of its research and testing bases on the Antarctic coast. A helicopter mission was launched from a nearby carrier in to assess the situation and offer assistance if necessary. Their reports described the base as completely destroyed. Many of the smaller structures were completely crushed in from above while the larger buildings had large holes, approximately six ft in diameter, punched through the outer walls. The walls were made of steel enforced concrete. There were various vehicles spread throughout the base pointing towards the exit that appeared to have been impaled from above. There was an abundance of bullet casings all throughout the compound and many standard issue guns lieing on the ground. In addition, there were large amounts of human blood as well as a few various limbs spread throughout the base.
One week later, a civilian helicopter on its way to an oil rig off the shore of Antarctica witnessed what had destroyed the US base and was behind the disappearing ships. A number of large crabs were crawling over and attacking the oil rig. Each was approximately 50 to 100 feet across. They appeared to be punching holes in the rig's support structure. Via binoculars, a passenger witnessed one of the crabs grab an oil rig employee with its pincers and then eat him. The helicopter immediately turned and headed back towards the mainland.
Attached are three artist's renditions of what will inevitably happen when the giant crabs reach the mainland.
