So I was at the midnight release of Halo 3,
<div class="IPBDescription">played all night, and was late for work.</div>But the game's pretty good.

Take any pictures at the midnight opening? I love things like that, nerd party!
LOL.
I can just see one of the 3D artists showing off his finished work to his bosses.
"Hmm, could use a few more barrels... here. Here, aaaand... here."
lemme guess... they sell nothing that has to do with crates and barrels...
To be fair, Target doesn't sell targets, Wendy's doesn't sell girls named Wendy, Best Buy doesn't sell the best conceivable buy, Valve doesn't sell valves, Bungie doesn't sell bungie cords, Monolith doesn't sell monoliths, Home Depot doesn't sell homes, etc.
To be specific, The Home Depot does not sell homes, I agree. However it does sell home <i>related</i> things. One might go so far as to call it a depot for all things home-related.
If one were so inclined.

To go a step further one could say that if you were looking for good deals on merchandise of questionable quality, target could be where you plan to go... So ultimately Target could be the <i>target</i> of your needs.

Too much of a stretch. Crate & Barrel's products were shipped there in crates and barrels, for instance, and you could probably find some for sale, but the store mostly sells furniture. Home Depot suggests a depot where one may find homes. This is a lie!
This annoys me greatly whenever I look at the image.

Considering they could have repackaged Halo 2 with 4 new skins and broken every sales record ever, you should be grateful that the textures are the same COLOR on each wall.
Sorry to those who sent game requests, he didn't bring his headset so I didn't want to cut him off from team conversation.
Campaign: B+. Lots of fun, some really annoying stuff, the backtracking isn't as bad as before but its still there.
MP: Still getting back into my groove, but lovin' it.
Shouldn't someone in here be cynical about the 'missing' 80p or the 'relentless backtracking' or the 'horrendous flood' or the 'lack of Elites to fight' or some other troll-inspired posts that we get in 95% of threads nowadays?
Campaign is alright, but you need a co-op partner and an abundance of gold skulls to make it really fun. To that effect, online co-op is very sweet, and - in every game I've played so far - lag free (although I'd assume that's because there's no need to not give the benefit of the doubt to the player). Apparently most people are content with the ending (including post-credits ending). There's backtracking, but it's disguised decently, so that the levels actually feel and look different (as an example: you go through parts of level 2 about 3 times, but it's from different angles with different lighting). Marines are useful only as cannon fodder (if that, as they've killed me or my co-op partner numerous times), but spice it up with their chatter. Level design is varied decently, my only major disappointment is the first level, which just plays the same all the way through and it's far too camoflaged for an opening level (SDTV doesn't let you find those jackal snipers easily hidden in trees) - and it only really changes it up near the end. Other levels have a good mix of open and CQ combat.
Multiplayer is alright as well, decently fun. For some reason I'm better at 3 than 2. The insta-mute feature is very nice, but it's actually extremely rare that you meet the Halo-cliche swear-mongering, trash-talking 'jock' or '12 year old' that is apparently extremely common. The after game lobby is also cleaned up nicely, and as far as I've seen, few people talk in the 20 second window that you could sit there for. The best use is for muting people that don't know how to adjust their mic so they're not swallowing it.
That said, apparently custom gametypes are where it's at. Bungie's Team Slayer matchmaking seems to be composed of 'Shottie and Snipers', 'Shottie and Snipers' and 'Shottie and Snipers' (and on that rare occasion ' Team Slayer') on Narrows, Narrows, Narrows and The Pit (11 maps and 'one of the robust gametype creating mechanics ever conceived for a console game' and they have two gametypes for Team slayer and they utilize only 5 maps (2 nearly exclusively) - GG). Thank God for the veto option.
Haven't you heard? Barrels are the new crates! Just like Halo 3 is the new toilet paper in many homes across the globe!
The 7/11 near my apartment is selling Halo 3 slurpees/squishees, so there may be a Halo 3 toilet paper.
Multiplayer is a dull as ever and you can't search for games, so certain gameplay types (Infection) can't be played unless you have friends. Online console gaming sucks.

The 3 or 4 people thing: It's fairly graphics intensive with two people, adding more would likely drag it to a crawl. The reason you can have that many people for matchmaking is because you have less processing to AI and pathfinding and the level design is generally simpler.
As for multiplayer, you could always try to hook up with one of those larger groups of people that have custom games often like Penny Arcade or Something Awful.
Overall I'm pretty impressed with the whole experience.
I just ran out of Game Fuel <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
Heh well when those Halo fans realise it's the same game re-skinned and played over and over and passed off as 3, they will be using that and their game cd's to wipe their asses with.
Personally, I hated Halo 1, and didn't play enough of 2 to get a real feel for it (but it sounded just as bad, if not worse, then 1).
However Thansal, never point out any forms of trolling or a troll will always troll.
Now I have officially trolled. Good job goon.

Well I don't know if this counts as not liking the Halo franchise but I never liked playing consoles. I always hated playing those gamepads. Give me a mouse and a keyboard anyday for a game. So no, I never played Halo would probably hate it on a console anyway.

I'd have to say, opinon stated as fact is pretty close to trolling <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> .
Your opinion is also like saying 'FPS 2 is just a repackaged FPS'. And it's true, that doesn't mean people don't love it. People like new features, new graphics, new playgrounds and refinements - otherwise we'd still be using Windows 3.1.
Some people also like Halo for the story (I suppose 30 seconds of plot every hour appeals to some people).
I am going to have to disagree about the marines. I've given enough marines rocket launchers to know that they're more likely to blow up my friend or myself before an enemy (they TK so much it's unbelievable - it's like they aim for the Arbiter). I still don't know how they could break marine AI so much and make the enemy AI that much better.
Also, for Browser: you can get Halo and Halo 2 on PC, so I'm not sure if that's relevant or not...

I have NEVER been TKed by a marine so far, except by grenades or if I shoot a bunch of them in frustration. Plowing though the campaign alone at heroic atm, we'll see if they are moronic this time around.
Also, 4-5 "accurate" shots from a teammate is less worth then a constant 2min missile spam from an AI.
