signed - A fan.
Thank you for making such a great game, thank you for making a game that I actually like. It has a great community to boot. Thank you for listening to all of our suggestions, unlike the other major game programmers, thank you for altering things to the way that we asked, or preferred. Thank you for being dedicated to our needs, thank you for being so responsive and immersed in the community.
I love natural selection, I don’t know what I would be playing without it (probably nothing x.x;) I bought half-life 1 just to play the game, I thought it was old. I just recently joined and began playing, Even though there are complex controls; controls that newbie’s might have a hard time getting use too. I love it, I enjoy winning, and... Even losing. Its fun, it’s easy to get into (once u knows the controls and how to do things). Thank you for making this game, you (the staff, and creators of Natural selection) ROCK!. This game, when I joined. I thought it was a dying community... sadly, I only know natural selection because of shear luck, I was searching on Google and it came up, I checked it out. And about a month later got half-life 1 just for the purpose of trying the game. Now I find out that you got another game in the works WHOOT!!!. I would gladly pay 20... 40$ for that, I know it will be worth it, I say for its time when it first came out, natural selection 1 would defiantly have been worth that price also. Natural selection isn’t just some bum mod, where people worked on it and threw it down and forgot about it, it isn’t some half-baked edit... It’s a VERY well thought out masterpiece. I enjoy every second I play it. Even though im no where near skilled enough nobody really picks on me for my poor aim >-<. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you thank you, thank you for working on such a great game. Natural selection is a great game... great idea... it’s an all out great experience. I wish you all the best of luck on working in natural selection 2, I can’t wait to see it come out.

Here, here!!! I couldn't agree more. I have always been a fan since I was introduced to this complex game but somebody had to start it and a community had to grow and support it. NS was an amazing concept and intensely team oriented, but it is the evolution of the game itself as the community and developers work together that make it truely amazing to me. If only the two parties could truely unite then we might create shockwave to affect how games are made for the future forevermore. I couldn't begin crediting the people in the community who made it happen, there are too many and not just developers, but the contributors, donors, community site admins, forum moderators, server hosts and their admins, friends I have made and play with regularly to this day in-game, and yes even the people who join your team in the game.

    I salute you all.

Gosh I don't know what to say except...you're welcome!

It truly is a community effort and it's hard to believe just how many people have contributed to the game over the years. Just glance at the team list and you can get an idea.

Without you guys, we'd be doing something else. Because of you, we have a chance to make NS2 and a chance to have it go big. Really big. We have a lot of work and obstacles ahead of us but we will lean on you guys whenever we need you.

Some day I hope to have a big physical gathering so we can all meet for real!

I agree with this thread. Indeed. I would go as far as to say that NS is the best shooter ever made. And probably top3 best games ever made aswell, it is truly a work of pure genious. And I still can't belive it took me this many years to actually sign up on the official forums! Shame on me.

No other game lets you feel such a sense of accomplishment. Sure, in CS you can kill the entire enemy team, but then what? You all respawn, and you have slightly more cash. Compare that to being in the middle of a huge firefight and finishing the PG the instant before the fade takes you out, then to see a stream of HA come phasing in to then end the hive? Booya. No other game comes anywhere close to those kinds of feelings.

Yes, been a big reason why I go to the school I do, NS that is. We have Second Life in our schools education, that's a bit cheesy but the freedom in the game is quite educational in that sense. I study Digital Multimedia.
NS is actually the only game I play on PC, except for 2nd life at school. Before I played Warcraft.

In the end I don't know how much praise I should heap. Sure, it's unequivocally the best electronic game this 22 year old--who started his gaming career at 7 with an NES and worked his way through every console and big PC game since--has ever played. Bar none.

Granted. But all other games just bore me as a result. If any game, new or old, has a tried some clever attempt at encouraging teamplay and cooperation to achieve an objective, I just smirk at it. I grin sarcastically, with a mix of pity and contempt for the developers, because none of them have ever (and likely will NEVER) come close to what NS has achieved. See Stix's comment for what I mean.

This game means lots to a lot of people. Back in middle school I used to look forward to basketball practice when the school day was over. It was a comforting ritual, something I counted on, something I looked forward to while zoning-out in class. A time to meet up with familiar friends who all knew they could count on each other to be there. By the time I was in H.S., Natural-Selection had giving me and several of my (real life) friends the exact same feel. We'd look forward to it throughout the day, sometimes reminiscing about memorable moments at the lunch table. Immediately after school we'd meet up in our favorite servers, commune with the familiar names and personalities, and engage in the exact same camaraderie and sportsmanship that I used to enjoy in organized sports. (Though it should be noted that cumulatively I've spent several orders of magnitude more time in games than sports.)

This is NS's most important legacy I think. Not so much the gameplay, fantastic though it is, but the time spent, the memories. Here's to NS2 and my hopes that it will bring the same joy to a new generation of gamers

but i would like to say...
Thank you for working hard on NS2, thank you for being diligent and keeping us updated, thank you for takeing our thoughts into consideration as well as making your game as unique as possible. I'm in the same boat as you guys. I'll confess, I haven't played NS1 for a decent year and a half, but I don't think a single day went by where didn't check the NS forums. I'm still here, just don't have as much time to play anymore. But during the 2 years I've played, I had a blast. Here is to 4 more years of playing once NS2 comes out. Count on me being there playing with you guys again. But what really excites me is that this community is stronger than ever, even after site outages for more than a year. Imagine if the site never went down, how much bigger the community would of gotten. BTW, to this day I still promote the game and tell people about it. If everyone does their part, NS will certainly become huge.
