I agree. Perhaps there is a member of this new E-Team that might want to transcribe it...

    Through the little I can contribute to to community, I guess I can attempt to transcribe the podcasts (I'll start with the latest one and work my way back,) but if I could get someone to volunteer to read through them for typos, grammar, and spelling, I'd appreciate it. I'll post again when I've got an update.

    i would also translate the transcript into german if the devs give the translation to the public else it'd probably only be a waste of time

    UPDATE:

    Having never done this before, and not even thinking about Charlie and Max's non-host experience (no offense,) It's going to take a bit of work and won't be a word-for-word scribe. Too many um's, but's, sentence "do overs," sentence structure, and the like, but I'm sure after a couple edits I'll have something managable that would read similar to an interview on a gaming site/magazine.

    Since it was your focus originally to try and get this project started KFDM, would you like me to send you my "final" copy once I get done editing this mass of voculabulary?

    You can go ahead and post it here. My main focus was to get some people to start talking about it since I've seen several people complaining that they'd rather have a transcript instead of the pod cast. If you post it here, others will hopefully help you with it.

    Ok, transcribing this podcast into a readable format is VERY difficult to read, it end up looking something like this; (<b>WALL OF TEXT</b>: Who wants to read this, are you guys nuts?)

    <!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec--><!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro--><b>Charlie</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Hello this is Charlie
    <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro--><b>Max</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: And Max
    <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro--><b>Charlie</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: And Max, welcome to the sixth podcast.
    <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro--><b>Max</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: It’s October 12th, 2007.
    <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro--><b>Charlie</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: And we’re playing a little Bang Camero for ya. The reason why is because Max and I went to an awesome Bang Camero concert this week.
    <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro--><b>Max</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Yup on Wednesday.
    <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro--><b>Charlie</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Yeah, buddies of yours from Iron Lore.
    <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro--><b>Max</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Yup, I used to work with Brin, who’s one of three lead guitarists, and one the 20 lead singers, Morgan.
    <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro--><b>Charlie</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: I love that! Their whole stage, they had like, half as many people onstage as there were in the audience.
    <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro--><b>Max</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Yeah, that was a small show.
    <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro--><b>Charlie</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: It was, but that’s what makes it so fun.
    <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro--><b>Max</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Yeah there was a video interview with them where they basically say that the line between the audience and the performers gets blurred.
    <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro--><b>Charlie</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: That’s so great.
    <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro--><b>Max</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Which is what makes it a great job.
    <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro--><b>Charlie</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: And that’s what makes a great video game. It’s almost like because they’re video game developers they understand this concept.
    <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro--><b>Max</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Maybe.
    <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro--><b>Charlie</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: No?
    <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro--><b>Max</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Actually, I think some of the other guys work at Harmonix too.
    <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro--><b>Charlie</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Yeah, they’re like… they get it. It’s like the players are part of it.
    <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro--><b>Max</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Yeah. You guys might know them from… Bang Camero had a song in Guitar Hero 2, Push Push Lady Lightning. One of the unlockables, and I understand they have a track in Rock Band.
    <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro--><b>Charlie</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Very cool, like they launched their whole band just from that game right?
    <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro--><b>Max</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: I think that definitely helped a lot. That and they had a track in Titan Quest.
    <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro--><b>Charlie</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Oh! Right right right.
    <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro--><b>Max</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Although it’s in the credits, and you have to kind’ve unlock it. I guess we were too nervous about just sticking it in there, so you have to actually go into the options to turn it on.
    <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro--><b>Charlie</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Well, I’m going to switch it over to something a little tamer now so we can do the actual podcast. So we’re excited about Bang Camero, but we’ve got some other stuff to talk about.
    <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro--><b>Max</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: And… we may do a song for Natural Selection 2 with them.

    <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro--><b>Max</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Like Queen kind’ve could do space metal, like Flash Gordon.

Anyways, so what are we talking about in the podcast.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    On the other hand, I can do a commentary style overview of the podcast, which would end up looking something like this;

    <!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Podcast 6 Commentary October 12th, 2007

    As the podcast opens, you can hear the “space metal” of Bang Camero, and realize immediately that this is something different for Charlie and Max. They discuss the concert they attended Wednesday, and Max’s tie-in with the band. Max was a co-worker with one of Bang Camero’s three lead guitarists, Brin, and also one of their 20-odd lead singers, Morgan. Charlie and Max talk briefly about Bang Camero’s song, Push Push Lady Lightning, and it’s inclusion as a bound track in Guitar Hero 2, as well as another song of theirs being included in Rock Band.

    Charlie and Max really seem to focus on three things about Bang Camero that seems to stand out, that the band seems to blur this line between the audience and performers being blurred, (not a stretch since there’s 20 plus band members on stage,) that a few in the band might also work for Harmonix so this must make for a great player-to-developer connection, and the most revealing part of this conversation is when Max reveals an urge to do a song for Natural Selection 2 with them, and dubs the band’s style “space metal.” According to Max, Queen also falls into this category, while Charlie adds that GWAR would make a suitable jump into this “space metal” genre pool.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Keep in mind these are just snippets of the podcast.

    I have to say, the second version is a crapload less work, easier on the eyes, and more readable, and the first is more accurate, and a (near) actual transcript. However, I have no qualms about doing either.

    I like the first one more, although I'm sure the second could work. I just don't like the specific section you've transcribed: it seems like you're adding in a lot of stuff that wasn't in the podcast. "you can...realize immediately that this is something different for Charlie and Max" and "not a stretch since there’s 20 plus band members on stage" and stuff like that, which isn't found anywhere in the podcast. Less editorializing, more transcribing. Also there are some grammatical mistakes and stuff. Either way certainly beats listening to the podcast itself though <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> Nice job so far.

    The first version isnt neccessary i think. Well if you want it to do, just do it ^^

    But it would be so nice if you could summarize it (second version)

    keep up your good work

    First Method (preferred): then I can easily skip to the part where I'm interested.
    Second Method: while some my like, too many words, make with the NS2 news <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
    But whichever comes out, I'm easy either way..

    Because of the length (and my overly optimistic confidence in my own abilities,) the transcripts will be up the following monday after the friday podcasts are posted.

    John, if you want to include the transcript in the original News Post that would be fine as well. Either way I'm going to make sure to link to it within the News Post.

    Thanks digz. Whatever folks at Unknown Worlds feel like doing with the transcript is up to their discretion. I don't mind doing this with every podcast from here on out. (it would take more hours than I have to give to write the podcasts prior to this.)

    Thanks to the developement team and community for making this something that I'd be willing to do. (I wouldn't do this if I hated the community/creators.)

    EDIT: Is there a regular time when the podcast is released? I hope to get this next one done asap.

    - Ouch! But master, there's nothing new to transcribe!

    Hi, i kind of took over the transcribing thing, but didn't know there was a thread about it... Anyway, thanks John Top! It was your transcript that got me into this! I found your transcripts so useful and thought i'd type them for new podcasts.
    Having a transcript is a lot more useful, because you can simply search for "comm" and get all info on that quickly. I also like to use direct quotes from the transcript to let others know what exactly Charlie and Max have said on an issue.

    I have tried to break each podcast into meaningful topics to avoid the dreaded WALL OF TEXT - it might also make it easier to avoid reading things you're not interested in. Also, i don't record the "uh" and "laughs," and it makes it easier to transcribe and more readable. The entire process for a podcast takes me about 6-8 hours, and i am getting better every time!

    Please send me PMs if you notice mistakes in the transcript or can complete something i marked [inaudible]. Also, i always appreciate criticism. I was thinking of putting the time in the podcast at which each new topic starts. I'm not sure a summary is necessary, since there is already a brief summary with each podcast and i have the main topics in big letters.
