<div class="IPBDescription">like firearms use to have</div>Anyone who played firearms surely remembers the models.firearmsmod.com site. It was linked right on the front page, full of custom content created on the forums for the public to access in one generalized area. The problem with modding is a lot of good mods go unnoticed because of the wide spread amount of custom sites that spring up, and a lot of good work goes lost when they go down.

My idea is to add this to the website, have a custom.unknownworlds.com that can have models, sprites, sounds, tutorials, and even server side mods (the new LUA scripts, yay!) that can be updated by a group of chosen people. By doing this, it will help keep a customization community on these forums rather than spreading out to many (oh god no more t2k and armslab fights), and keep the fan base on the main site and forums. It would be a good way to promote the new LUA coding system also, with tutorials to teach people what they can find right next to where they get the game. With the tutorials right there and easy to find, there will be a lot more people getting into creating content for the game. Firearms exploded with custom content even into the games almost-death and there still stuff that gets created on a decent basis, mainly due to its focus on customization. Customization will help bring new life into a game that will get old as you play it (as all games do)

Though i suggest if this idea is accepted, to only post at least semi-quality work at the worst with all credits included to the new section.

Yea, I agree, and its a really good way for people to be able to keep track of newer versions of things without having to go to a bunch of different sites.

Yea people will always do that, but its a good place to keep all the good work in one spot where people wont lose their artwork if it goes down, i've had too much trouble trying to hunt down things i've lost because nsa killed my hosting without me knowning right after i reformatted my pc

Yeah i totally agree, having one central source of all those files would be a great move, sites which mirror the files can be added as alternate download sites. I don't think it would take up too much storage but the problem would be the bandwidth; if they managed to strike up a cheap hosting deal with someone then they would be set.
