Who's still working on NS?

<div class="IPBDescription">the official dev team and playtesters, I mean</div>...and when I say 'working', I mean "has either created something for or played a current non-public build of NS in the last 4 weeks".

I'm just wondering what happened to everyone who was supposed to be contributing to it, and what the word is on any future releases like the Official Mappack, etc.

I too am very interested to this aswell. Indeed if the whole NS team is as I expect working on NS2, if there are much needed updates maybe a set of trusted volunteers could be doing their work and maintaining the original NS for them?

I'm really curious too. Who's working on what where and how?

If there's no answer there's either nothing going on or the thread is not being noticed. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

Well NS is in a fully playable and pretty well balanced state after many years, so it wouldn't surprise me if no further core development was planned. But- there was talk of an official mappack to bring together the best of the mapping community's offerings (and there are some really great maps).

Something like this that re-ignites people's casual interest in NS and gears up the community for NS2 would be a sensible move, it just depends on who is still around to make it happen.

The NS team is still basically around but is currently inactive. We did talk about another version of NS and also about a map-pack, but those haven't gone anywhere.

Even if other people did all the work on NS, we would still need to spend time on it - discussing features/balance, answering questions about the code, posting mirrors and uploading code, answering questions after the release, etc.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if we put out a new version of NS before NS2 but right now we've got our minds focused on NS2.
