Guitar Hero 2 (360 version) and the movie 1408.
Firstly....
Anyone here own Guitar Hero 2 for the X-Box 360 AND have downloaded such packs as the My Chemical Romance pack?
I wish to know if you have to be online for the 360 to authenticate the downloaded files and play them.
(Certain Live Arcade games lock themselves to Trial Mode if you're offline despite the fact you've paid for them.)
I wish to download the MCR pack soon-ish and take my 360 to my friends house for them to try out too.
But I don't want to haul all that gear down there only to find out that the console needs to be on Live.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

Finally...
I've just watched the movie 1408 at a friends house. ( YouTube Trailer | Apple.com Trailer. Better quality etc. )

I rung the guy who gave me the DVD on the way home to tell him I'd finally gotta around to viewing it. We discussed the ending
and apparently we've each seen a different ending. The one I saw (Cusack's character sacrificing himself to destroy 1408 and
prevent his ex and others from using the room) sounding much better than his version. (Apparently Cusack's character wakes up
in hospital and explains the events to his ex. She doesn't believe him until his tape recorder playbacks the voice of their deceased daughter.)
What ending(s) did you guys see and which do you prefer?

I didn't find the film that scary or jumpy, but how it got a PG-13 rating is beyond me.

Your views on 1408 here please.

Also, recommendations for films to scare my friends 14 year old daughter please? (She loves this crap, and I love watching her freak out <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
We've recently seen Resident Evil : Extinction (yawn) and 30 Days of night (better than expected) and she loved em both.)

Thanks.

Haven't seen it but the wiki article you mention explain that the ending you saw was the original downer ending, but that test audiences didn't like that so the switched it to the one your friend saw.

    Regarding 1408:
Did either of you watch the entire movie? The ending your friend "saw" was actually fake, it was in the middle of the movie. The main character wakes up and blah blah talks to his ex etc etc. As he walks around he sees random things he recognizes from his time in the room(People that killed themselves inside the room and such). Eventually the world around him starts to fall apart (literally) and he's back inside the room. After he burns the room down and gets out, he listens to the tape recorder and hears his daughters voice. The part that he ended up recording, when the room makes him see his daughter, actually takes place after the fake-out ending, so I think your friend was just high while seeing the movie.

It's funny, because people walked out of the theater when the fake ending happened, I guess they thought that was it and were disappointed (I would have been). Too bad they missed the real ending.

Edit: Speaking of 1408, did anybody else get a "The Dark Tower" vibe when the room produced the free-standing doorway?

Thought it was pretty sweet. I'm a Cusack fan.

Good movie, all in all. Nothing amazing though.

I think it reminded me too much of other better Stephen King stuff. Like 'the Shining' or maybe even 'Rose Red', haven't read the book for 1408 but the movie was ill-impressive. Kind of a been there done that sort of feeling. Got kinda bored after the first hour.

Anyway, can't help you with Guitar Hero. I have yet to waste money on Microsoft Points for any game.

Can't you just unplug your 360 to see if the pack works?

I plan to do that too but I haven't been out to pick up the game or Microsoft Points yet.
I was simply planning ahead a little because I know things are going to be a mad rush tomorrow
when I do get around to picking the stuff up.

I haven't seen the 1408 movie, but I've read the short-story recently. It was a decent story but not particularly thrilling.

    "Mist" on the other hand...

I ADORED the Mist short story, and I am salivating with anticipation while I wait for the movie to be released at the end of the month. OH! The story concept was unique and imaginative, I just hope the movie is similarly inspired!

(I figured... while we're talking about Stephan King and all.)

    Same here.

As for GH3, my friend has played on the 360 version and he says there aren't downloads as of yet. And I'm pretty sure you don't have to be online to play them.
