Super Mario Galaxy
<div class="IPBDescription">Best! Platformer! Ever!</div>I swear, this game is AMAZING. Anyone else bought it? This is seriously the best game I've played in a loooong time. It's magic, man.
Also, this is pretty funny:

To be honest - this game alone might be the single most contributing factor to me wanting to buy a wii this christmas.
I must aquire this game.
I think we're supposed to notice the "Sponsored by: Sony" thing, which of course probably didn't influence the review at all. Variety simply doesn't know heads from tails when it comes to video games.
It looks as well as it can on the Wii. It plays like a drug trip and it's addictive, which I haven't found a game to be since Pokemon (Yeah...).
For added fun? Listen to Dark Side of the Moon while playing it, you'll feel like your mind's been raped <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
Edit: <a href="http://arstechnica.com/reviews/games/super-mario-galaxy-review.ars" target="_blank">This</a> is a better and more encompassing review.
I've only gotten 24 stars so far, but if the overall excellence keeps up, I would say that it would dethrone Mario 64 as Platformer King. That is a mere opinion, but I haven't been quite so giddy about getting home after work and playing a game since I first played Mario 64. It's good to feel like a 12-year-old again.
Although I found myself dying a lot in the game, by slipping up and usually falling into a black hole...
Good thing they toss extra lives around like candy.
I was actually referring to the "Sponsored by Sony" followed by the most pathetic attempt at unbiased reviewing i've ever seen outside of "Sony Defence Force"*.
They slag off the Wii within the first sentance, and then again in the third. Then they insult Mario (Stereotypes? In a computer game? Never!), then the Wii again, then Twilight Princess, and then finally get around to slagging off the game itself. Then the Wii's controllers (OH NO! IT ONLY HAS ONE THUMB STICK! If only I had a console with two thumbsticks...), then the games' graphics, then HEY GUYS GUESS WHAT RATCHET AND CLANK HAS BETTER GRAPHICS AND ITS FOR THE PS3!
Ahh, balanced journalism.
* Yes I know SDF is a parody. At least I bloody well hope it is.
I picked up both today. Somehow I imagine trying to choose between the two will only lead to me rocking back and forth in a corner while pointing accusingly at random objects and screaming vulgarities.
To say the least, it should be enjoyable.
This Wii is starting to become more and more interesting each day. Might the day be upon us that yours truly is going out and getting a console once more o.O
Sidenote:
The Wii can also emulate previous Sega and Nintendo games right, right up to 3rd generation?

QFT. Best mario since 3. 2 player mode is also especially awesome, since if you have a friend or GF with only a passing interest in video games, s/he can collect star bits with you without having to have too much dexterity =p
I found being the second player to be a wholly fulfilling experience. Not so much for the collecting star bits part or anything like that, more because there seems to be a fair supply of ways to sabotage player one. All the 'helpful' tools are really just to lure them into a false sense of security. "Don't worry I'll stop that boulder!" and then as they walk past, just.. let go. Oops! My bad!

Mario & Sonic crappy Olympic game<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
My Condolence to you.
*Eagerly awaiting Galaxy in my mail, damn you 5-7 days free shipping.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Sonic would totally win in a race, unless Mario managed to jump on his head. Also, cut your hair.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Sir, hold it! Mario is fast, just hold the jump button.
Its just another game where you do the remote waving actions it shows on screen and you get big points. Except the added plus is you have Mario/Sonic characters in it.
Yeah like WTF, doesn't he have SuperSonicSpeed, what does mario have in terms of speed other then a kart?
And I bought a Wii, it has wii sport and my folks even like it. Even my dad played bowling and totally got addicted and this is a man that has not played ANY computer game in his ENTIRE life... Going to get Mario Galaxy next, maybe my mom would like that as well as SMB and SMB3 were her alltime favourite games
