Rushing Motion Tracking is a great way. Any decent player will constantly keep himself aware of the overall map situation, and will naturally keep on top of RT defending (by seeing the alien approaching and intercepting). It also lets you be aware of this and give orders to marines.

Another way is Phase Gates. Many commanders place PGs right in the hives. Try instead placing them at the node outside the hive, such as Power Core in Origin. Doing this lets you still cover the hive, while holding an extra node, and your marines being able to get to the other nodes more quickly.

Mines are great too. A single pack of mines, given to a marine who is decent enough to follow your orders with them, can place a mine behind each of 4 nodes; this will let each node generally have quite a longer life, at the cost of only 2 res (which a node pays off in 8 seconds). Well worth it.

Don't electrify, except nodes that have PGs beside them; in that case, its the best defense you can buy.

There is none. Try yelling at them until they do it.

Me personally, as a marine, I constantly monitor my map (and it get me killed at times). I look for those flashing nodes and try to get there quick. In my mind I see it as a.) keeping our teams res flowing and alive b.) easy kills for me <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> c.) +2 res for the kill, for the team, for the win.

While playing often I'll yell/tell/scream over the mic that "xxx" res tower is under attack. Does me doing that help? I don't know for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised that it helps more often than not, we wouldn't want the entire team looking at their map at the same time.

Holding nodes as marines is a waste of time. It is better to just keep pushing the aliens, taking out their nodes and keeping them from evolving / dropping hive which limits their effectiveness to around 20% of maximum. Also, in many pub games this is doubly effective because aliens will become too defensive when attacked heavily and will forget to bite nodes.

As long as you keep your base intact, marines spawn at 50-70% effectiveness, depending on arms lab upgrades and can easily take out skulks.

After/if you have lost a lot of nodes, send 1-2 people to recap easily defendable nodes and nodes with little enemy concentration.

Bribe them. Rush jetpants and tell them that only one person can have a JP and they must go around saving/capping nodes and if they fail to do so, someone else will get the JP and told to do the same until all nodes are secured and then everyone can have their victoly jetpants.

    The end.

I'm not used to having absolute morons on my team who go to the same spot to die over and over to 1 skulk going 1-20 kd. Do what I do (if I still played this game) and type disconnect in console if your team is dumb.

It's more rewarding to try and help them. ;-)

Also, if you're tired of players that can't do their thing, join the ANSL. At least there if someone can't do their thing you have a good reason to yell at them.

    Asmodee's advice is priceless btw.
