Tutorial Chapters and the Modibility

I've got a great idea. In order for people to better learn the command chair without ruining the game play for others NS2 should include tutorials... okay, sorry... couldn't resist.

So anyway, pertaining to the tutorials I haven't heard a ton about them... maybe because I don't listen to all the podcasts in there entirety. I was wondering, not in too much detail, how they were going to be created. I wondered if it is possible for the NS2 team to create the tutorials with some form of open source or an editors of sorts. Doing so would allow others to create tutorials that can cover a whole array of topics and experience levels. Be they actually train by having the commander follow directions or as an informative for learning new strategies for maps. In addition, this would allow for strategy changes. As the game balances is tweaked or the communities style as a whole changes (it does, too) tutorials can be tweaked to reflect those changes.
I guess what I am saying is I think the community would benefit from a cookie cutter for making their own tutorials to reflect the changes in the community and sharing of strategies by creating episodes, chapters, or books (or whatever you want to call them)

Ok... enough of my quick poor typing... I'm off to play some NS

    i am agreed with practice-tutorial-demo play game mode (of course offline) like the Original Half-Life 1 Black mesa hasard course.

    I also think that a single-player tutorial for NS could go a long way to teach basic concepts, weapons, alien forms and upgrades. To allow the community to make these tutorial levels would take a boat-load of work off the NS2 developers and let the expert NS1 players pass their knowledge to the new player base. Of course, the entire process would have to be closely supervised by the developers, and communication of new abilities and game-play mechanics would be important.
    A lot of this depends on the NS community, though. A tool to make levels and an official message from NS staff asking for anyone interested to make a tutorial would go a long way making it happen.

    As a side-note, for anyone who thinks about ideas for a NS2 tutorial: in the Portal commentary mode, developers discuss at length how to introduce the concept of portals to new players. You might want to go through it to look for ideas for NS2.
